How did the New Pants Band come about? Let's push back time to 1992, when Deng Xiaoping was touring the south to deepen reform and opening up, a young man named Peng Lei quietly went to school in the Beijing Arts and Crafts School, but his heart was full of youthful restlessness. Ever since five years ago, when he heard Fei Xiang singing and dancing on the stage and singing "A Fire in Winter" on the spring evening, when he heard this trendy and strange music that he had never heard before, his heart had been hiding uneasiness and excitement.

Peng Lei came from a family of fine artists, and his father was a popular comic strip author, so he was ready to become a good painter at the beginning. Beijing Institute of Arts and Crafts said that it is an art school, in fact, it is a vocational secondary school that recruits junior high school students, and after graduation, students are assigned to do some scribble work in the local factory.

This ordinary vocational school did not produce famous painters, but produced a group of music stars who shocked the Chinese rock industry, and it was also known as the Whampoa Military Academy of the rock industry. Ding Wu, the lead singer of the Tang Dynasty Band, Shen Lihui, the boss of Modern Sky, Tian Peng, the lead singer of Long Kuan JiuDan, Yao Lan, the guitarist of the second-hand rose... None of them are graduates of Beijing Craftsmanship.

In such a campus environment, Peng Lei's previous inner uneasiness and excitement finally accumulated, and his love for rock and roll made him grow long hair and pick up the acoustic guitar. Of course, the main thing is that in the eyes of the Beijing youth at that time- you played metal rock, you don't need to have too much culture, there will be a lot of girls. So in 1996, Peng Lei formed his own band, called the Shape Master of the Metal Workshop.

Filled with a thick heavy metal and a post-rocking wind.

Vintage Metal Music didn't make Peng Lei like it for long, because he stumbled upon something more fun. It was really accidental that one day he heard a band music that he had never heard before, and this musical form hit him like a thunderbolt, making it firm in its future musical faith.

The band I heard was called Raymonds, and the musical form we now call punk. So he later changed the name of the band and took inspiration from his favorite British band, new order, and named it: newcools.

Translated as new pants

We don't have a girlfriend today

Tomorrow we don't have a girlfriend

The day after tomorrow we don't have a girlfriend

We don't have girlfriends in the future

i'm ok

--New Pants "i'm ok"

Later, he met Shen Lihui, the master brother of the craft, and joined the master brother that year he had just established Modern Sky. In his first year with Modern Sky, the published album Modern Sky was printed with the lyrics of the band New Pants: this is our times. This is our time. Well, that was the era of new pants.

A year later, in 1999, New Pants released the rhythmic bright and brisk album of the same name, "New Pants", which was rated as "Top Ten Records of the Year" by many authoritative magazines. Soon, they were all over the country, and they could also perform in Hong Kong with the tang dynasty band of their predecessors.

Compared with the previous rock and roll revolt, the songs of the new pants are more fresh and bright. The name New Pants is like a welcome to the coming New Century and New Era.

What people did not expect is that the arrival of the new era has also brought new shocks. Electronic music, synths, new pop music trends have all had a huge impact on punk and new pants. The constant splendor of the original imagination seems bleak in the face of the impact of the times, and the tide of popularity no longer belongs to them.

After so long of silence on the Internet in the new era, the outside world is rumored that the new pants band is going to disband, but in the variety show "Summer of the Band", which began this summer, they appeared again! Thirty-one bands voted for each other in the opening scene, including Faces, Pain, Mr. Turtle, Hedgehog, Penicillin and other old guns and upstarts. And the new pants ranked first in the number of votes.

In the following episodes, the returning New Pants Band did not live up to everyone's expectations. They are known as treasure bands and constantly surprise us with their creativity and experience. Whether it is "Life Is Hot Because of You", or the glamorous "Hanabi" after the adaptation, or a funny "Do You Want to Dance" has won everyone's praise and love.

The new pants are telling us with action that they are back, that they have never left.

Just like the meaningful answer of the "Summer of the Band" interview with Peng Lei, the host asked if you think the band's summer is back? Peng Lei replied that in the summer, the summer in Beijing is quite hot.

It is said that popularity is a circle, and those that have been popular before will be popular again. It's like the tide is gone and coming, but all of us will remember.
