On December 7, 2020 (Monday, the 23rd day of the tenth lunar month), Meiyang Village, Daejeon Ping Shan will usher in the Pig Festival!
Every year on the 23rd day of the tenth lunar month, it is the birthday celebration of the "Marquis of Huguo" in Meiyang Village, Pingshan Township, Datian County, and is an annual traditional temple fair in Meiyang Village, Pingshan. On this day, the villagers will slaughter dozens of fat pigs to worship the "Prince of The Protectorate", hold a solemn worship ceremony to carry out worship and blessing activities, in order to celebrate the harvest and pray for a good harvest in the coming year. As the villagers' lives became more and more prosperous, the celebrations became more and more grand, attracting thousands of tourists every year to watch, and gradually evolved into a "pig racing festival" with unique local characteristics of Daejeon.
In 2019, a total of 31 "pig kings" weighed 832 kilograms, the second place reached 743 kilograms, and the third place reached 732 kilograms.
