Set in the early 19th century during the era of the american inland fur trade, this is a true story of legend.
Hugh Grass was a fur hunter whose tribe of Bonni was invaded by a white tribe, his wife was killed, and he was dependent on his son.
In the fall of 1823, Hugh Glass, a highly experienced and skilled man, was hired by the Rocky Mountain Fur Company on a hunting expedition deep into the wild west.
One day they were resting when suddenly the Li people came and they attacked Grass's team, a large wave of people were killed, and Grass left by boat with his son and the remaining teammates.
Experienced Glass suggested that everyone follow their planned route to avoid the pursuit and return to the base camp smoothly.
During a hunting trip, Glass was badly injured by a bear bite, and was rescued by his fellow ship, Andrew Henry.
Everyone felt that the dying Glass was short-lived, and the responsible captain hired two men, John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger, to take care of him until he left.
The extremely realistic John Fitzgerald had no intention of taking care of Grasse, and was bent on taking Glass's property for himself.
So he brutally killed Glass's son during the quarrel, and an angry Grass witnessed all this but was powerless.
Seduced by the distraught Jim Bridger, the Lees had been hunted down, so they abandoned Glass in the wilderness to die.
The two had expected Glass to die like this, but Glass spent months in the wild wilderness with strong perseverance.
During this time, after his high fever had receded, he crawled to the river to drink water, and he burned his scratched throat with a torch, and the pain made him faint.
When he woke up, he found that the Li people who were pursuing them had come, and in order to survive, he dived on the edge of the cliff to escape.
Once ashore, leaning on crutches, he met a well-meaning man who gave him food and treated him for a simple wound.
On the other side, John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger arrive at the base camp, where John deceives the captain into witnessing Glass's death, and the captain believes him and gives them a commission.
Glass woke up, only to find that the well-wishers had been killed by the French fur merchants, and that their party was not far away, and That Grass had wanted to steal their horses to make it easier to get there.
However, seeing that a man in the procession was raping the captured woman, Grass rescued the woman and stole the horse and left.
It turned out that this woman was the daughter that the leader of the Li tribe had been looking for, and the French fur merchant smashed and burned the Li tribe, so the Li tribe killed the white team when they saw it.
Glass met the Li people again, he fell off a cliff as he fled, the horse died, there was a branch cushion, he did not die.
The snowstorm came, and in order to avoid the snow, he cut the horse's body and dug out the horse's internal organs and drilled it naked.
The snow stopped, Glass continued on his way, and he finally returned to the base, where he told the captain everything that had happened.
At this point, John Fitzgerald stole the captain's property and ran away, and the captain decided to go with Glass to capture John.
At the fork in the road, they had to split into two ways, the captain was killed by John, and Glass heard the gunshots and arrived to see the dead captain.
He designed to lure John into firing, but he fired a shot at John, who had been shot in the middle, but did not kill him.
Grass chased after them, and the two wrestled, when they happened to meet the Li people, who executed John but did not kill Glass.
It turned out that the Li woman he had saved in the French team was in the team.
In the end, Glass, who has suffered a successful revenge from the tribulation, is in a trance and sees his wife.
