Emperor YuanShun went around looking for sages who could rule the river, but he did not get anyone for a while. In the ninth year of zhengzheng (1249 AD), the chancellor TuoTuo presided over the conference of the river, and the crowd quarreled and did not reach an agreement. Jia Luli ruled the river, and was appreciated by The Removal, and recommended Jia Lu to Emperor Shun. After that, Jia Lu served as the general envoy of the river defense as the Shangshu of the Ministry of Works, and all the people and money in the relevant areas were dispatched by Jia Lu.
Jia Lu did have the talent to govern the river, and he believed that the Bi River and the Cai River should be dredged while blocking the breach. Jia Lu mobilized a lot of manpower and material resources to dredge the south of the Bian River down through Zhongmu, Zhuxian Town, Fugou and other places, into the Yingshui River and finally into the Huai River. Now Zhengzhou is not far north of the Yellow River, but the water system of Zhengzhou has nothing to do with the Yellow River, but belongs to the Huai River system, the reason is also related to Jialu.
It took Jia Lu only a few months to successfully rule the river, and the imperial court praised his merits.
But what no one expected was that it was because of this seemingly rapid river management that it triggered a vigorous peasant uprising at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. Legend has it that when the Jaluzhi River was in place, someone dug out a large stone man from the ground with only one eye. After Jia Lu saw the stone man, he ordered the stone man to be broken to dispel the rumors. Before the stone people were dug up, there was a song in the Yellow River Valley, "The stone people have one eye, provoking the Yellow River to rebel." "Liu Futong, a native of Yingzhou, rebelled against Han Lin'er, which was the famous Red Turban Army, and the world was in chaos, but the last person to laugh was a small monk from the Fengyang Huangjue Temple, his name was Zhu Yuanzhang.
It is worth mentioning that Jia Lu and Zhu Yuanzhang have fought. Zai Zhituo led an army to defeat Sesame Li of Xuzhou, and the remnants fled into Haozhou on the Huai River, and Jia Lu was ordered by Tutu to lead his troops in pursuit. Zhu Yuanzhang, who had not yet made a mark at that time, followed the grand marshal Guo Zixing and refused to defend. Zhu Yuanzhang saw that the city was attacked by the Yuan army very urgently, and led the death squad out of the city to fight to the death, and only then did he save the city. Guo Zixing attached great importance to Zhu Yuanzhang, so he married his adopted daughter Ma Xiuying to Zhu Yuanzhang, and the thousands of strange men and strange women began a legendary life. With Zhu Yuanzhang's achievements and legends, it is okay to call him the Emperor of the Ages, Jia Lu was suddenly dizzy during the siege of the city, his illness worsened but refused to take medicine, and he died of illness in the army not long after, when it was the thirteenth year of Zhizheng (1353 AD).
Although Jia Lu was an enemy of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming people ruled the history of the Yuan Dynasty and had a high evaluation of Jia Lu.
However, the river that Jialu repaired is now called jialu river, which was not officially called in the Ming Dynasty. The Ming Dynasty generally referred to this river as the BeiHe River, but the local people habitually called it the Jialu River to commemorate the merits of the JialuZhi River. In the Qing Dynasty, the name of the Beihe River was slowly replaced by the Jialu River, until today. In addition, the Jialu River also has a well-known name - the Little Yellow River, which shows the importance of the Jialu River.
The Jialu River is not connected to the Yellow River, so there is no sediment wrapped in the Yellow River for thousands of miles, and the river water is very innocent, which is conducive to shipping.
