"The Divine Colt Jalup" is based on french real events. It tells the story of Pierre Durand, the winner of the equestrian steeplechase at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and his Maja rup.
Pierre Durand was originally a French youth team obstacle courser who performed mediocrely in various competitions. Jappeloup is a Serra-French stallion. Selle Francais is the black knight's preferred horse, known for its physical strength and explosiveness, but Jappeloup is only 15 and a half palms short. It was this pair that, after winning the French Championship in 1982, won a series of international competitions.
At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Jappeloup and Durand represented France in the final, winning gold medals against many of the best players and famous horses. Four years later, after participating in the Paris International Obstacle Course, at Jalup's retirement ceremony, Prime Minister Chirac personally came out to praise the brave horse. Since then, Durand has never appeared on the international equestrian competition, in his own words: "France has only one Jappeloup." "
Below are pictures of the film's prototype Pierre Durand and Jalup's live-action and horse.
