Wang Duo, Zi Juesi, a native of Mengjin, Henan, a great calligrapher of the Ming and Qing dynasties, was awarded the imperial title of "Divine Pen". Because of his second master, He Qing, his exquisite calligraphy art has also been sealed for hundreds of years with his fame. In the 1980s, wangduo calligraphy fever was formed due to the admiration of the Japanese calligraphy exhibition society.
When more and more of Wang Duo's calligraphy works were displayed in front of people, the entire Chinese people and even the whole world had to be attracted, intoxicated and impressed by Wang Duo's exquisite calligraphy art. Master Qi Gong called Wang Duo: "The prince's pen power can carry the crown, and there has been no such king for five hundred years." Sha Menghai called him "the lord of Zhongxing", "the second king Zhengchuan corrected the unlearned loss of Zhao Mengfu Dong Qichang", and there was a saying that "the later king won the first king".
Wang Duo's calligraphy is like the image of a horse in the wind and tree, with the power to shake people's hearts, the huge continuous grass is majestic, the ink is thick, the chapters are sloppy, and the strange and dangerous old and spicy pen is beyond Wang Xi's reach, so the saying of "the later king wins the first king" is not exaggerated, and it can be said without exaggeration that Wang Duo's calligraphy has become an insurmountable peak for hundreds of years or even nearly a thousand years.
However, in the previous period, CCTV's millennium calligraphy feature film did not mention a word about Wang Duo, which made people feel puzzled and confused, which cannot but be said to be Wang Duo's sadness. Is it the omission of the choreographer or the disapproval of the authorities? Is it the second lord of his service, the surrender? How should Wang Duo's calligraphy be historically positioned?
Criticism of Wang Duo has been heard in history, and Qianlong's poetry has been destroyed as one of the forbidden books, and his calligraphy has also been greatly affected. In addition to the calligraphy achievements of Wang Xizhi, Tang Taizong's admiration for him also played a role that could not be underestimated.
The calligraphy of Wang Duo, which was formed after the 1980s, was unstoppable like a gushing river, and the China Book Association consciously blocked its wind when awarding awards in order to avoid the risk of partial abandonment, and as a result, the eighth national exhibition almost did not see the shadow of Black Wang Duo, indicating the influence of authoritative institutions on the direction of calligraphy. The author believes that art must be real and sacred, and cannot be based on the likes and dislikes of gentlemen, and cannot impose political secular prejudices on art.
The Ming Dynasty was an era of rich calligraphy passion, and the calligrapher's understanding of pen and ink was a height of history. Some publications have always said that there is Dong Qichang in the south and Wang Duo in the north, so who is the king in the peak duel? In my opinion, the comprehensive strength belongs to Dong Qichang, whether in terms of attacking the law naturally or in terms of pen and ink brilliance, Dong Qichang has surpassed Wang Duo.
Wang Duo's calligraphy can be on a par with Zhao Mengfu in style, but in essence it is still a collection of great customs. Compared with Dong Qichang's elegance, it seems much more despicable. For example, Wang Duo's penmanship did not get rid of the shackles of the "two kings", and his own methods of the Jin, Tang and Song dynasties were not fully integrated, and they were obvious; the pursuit of form and shape in pen and ink seemed to be profound, but only superficial, not immersed in the spirit of calligraphy. And Dong Qichang's calligraphy has no traces, the pen is exquisite, the pen is dragon and snake, it seems weak, but it makes people sigh with disdain. There are Chinese religious universities asked. His understanding of pen and ink is particularly profound, and he vividly embodies pen and ink in the words themselves. In particular, the dry round strength of his calligraphic lines is really the second huaisu.
