The name of the former president was misspelled, and the Italian president canceled the road naming ceremony

The road named after the former president was misplaced, and the current Italian President Mattarella had to cancel the unveiling ceremony of the plaque on the 1st.

According to Reuters reported on the 1st, italy's 10th president is named Carlo Azeglio Ciampi(Carlo Azeglio Ciampi), but the street plaque named after him is engraved with Carlo Azelio Ciampi, missing the letter g. Before the mistake was discovered, President Mattarella, The Mayor of Rome, Verginia Raj, and The Family of Ciampi had already arrived at the unveiling ceremony. Through the translucent cloth draped over the plaque, officials discovered that the former president's name had been misspelled, and Mattarella could only announce the cancellation of the ceremony.

The incident quickly caused an uproar on social media and even sparked interpartisan arguments. Karenda, a center-left figure preparing to compete with Raj for the mayor's seat this year, said it was a "collapse" of history and that Rome should be better off. Ferrara, Raj's ally, countered that it was a conspiracy to jeopardize the mayor and that "elections are approaching and they are doing everything they can to stop Raj (re-election)." Eventually, a corrected plaque was erected on the new street on the 1st. (Hou Tao)
