A man who is bent on death - Lu Zhaolin

author:Zhao Yue

Lu Zhaolin was one of the "Four Masters of the Early Tang Dynasty", a minister and famous poet during the Tang Dynasty.

Lu Zhaolin was born in the "Fanyang Lu Clan" of Cui Lu, the head of the early Tang Dynasty, with a solid family and a moist life, and was a child born "with a golden key".

Among the four masters of the early Tang Dynasty, unlike Wang Bo, who exported a chapter at the age of six, Luo Bin wang who was a seven-year-old Wing Goose, and Yang Jiong, who was a disciple at the age of ten, lu Zhaolin did not have a record of making a splash in his childhood.

But he came from a famous family, studied with famous masters since childhood, and he was good at reading poetry and books, and he never forgot, and he was also an erudite party in his teens, and his reputation was far and wide.

As he grew older, soon the mr. teacher whom lu Zhaolin had invited at home could no longer teach him. And he loves to have fun, he is very eager for the outside world, so he asked his parents for money and went out to study.

Lu Zhaolin, 12, bid farewell to his parents in reluctance and began his own path of study.

He passed through South Vietnam, passed by Dong Lu, and went all the way south, although he was "tired and heavy, and he did not tire of hard work for thousands of miles", but he enjoyed it.

Finally, the emperor did not pay off, and Lu Zhaolin visited the famous scholars Cao Xian and Wang Yifang at that time.

Who are Cao Xian and Wang Yifang?

Cao Xian was a scholar of the Scattered Dynasty during the Reign of Li Shimin.

It is said that Li Shimin wanted to worship Cao Xian as a scholar of the Hongwenguan, but Cao Xian refused to go on the grounds that he was older, so Tang Taizong had to send someone to his home to worship him as a Doctor of the Scattered Dynasty. Later, whenever Emperor Taizong encountered difficult words and omissions in qiwen, he sent people to ask for advice.

And Cao Xian also answered him one by one, and the explanation was clear, and there was no hiding. It was clear and convincing, so that Li Shimin was secretly surprised that this old man had several brushes.

And Wang Yifang is also a very talented person.

In the "Tang Dynasty New Language", there is such a passage as "Wang Yifang, erudite and talented, cane into Chang'an, for several months, the famous beijing master" means that Wang Yifang is erudite and talented, and enters Chang'an on crutches, and after a few months, the fame is so big that it alarms the whole capital.

And he was upright and loyal, and his character and learning were highly valued by the people of the times, and even Wei Zheng, who was famous in the world, was surprised by it and was willing to marry his niece to him.

Both of them are giants of the academic community, and Lu Zhaolin has studied with them for eight years, which must also be talented.

So later, when the title of "Wang Yang Lu Luo" (Wang Bo, Yang Jiong, Lu Zhaolin, Luo Bin Wang) was circulated, Yang Jiong jumped out and said, "Shame in front of Lu, shame on the queen." It can be seen that in Yang Jiong's heart, Lu Zhaolin is the first.

In the prosperous and positive era of Tang Zhenguan, Lu Zhaolin, who believed in Confucianism, was also eager to make meritorious achievements, go out and enter the picture, and realize the Confucian dream of ruling the country and the world.

So, after he completed his studies, Lu Zhaolin, who was only 19 years old, stepped into Kyoto's Chang'an, hoping to create a great strategy.

When he first entered the career, Lu Zhaolin was appreciated by Tang Taizong's half-brother Li Yuanyu the Prince of Deng. Li Yuanyu saw him as he was, so he invited him to the Palace of The Tang Dynasty as a "pawn" and was responsible for managing the books.

Although it was an idle official position, it was already very satisfied with Lu Zhaolin, who was an official for the first time, and King Deng was indeed very important to Lu Zhaolin.

Whenever he was introduced to the outside world, he always proudly said, "This is what I am like (Sima Xiangru)" that is, Lu Zhaolin is regarded as a Western Han Dynasty literary master Sima Xiangru.

Who is Sima Xiangru, that is a great literary hero who is known as "Cizong" and "Fu sheng". When Emperor Liu Che of the Han Dynasty read his "Zi Fei Fu", he still thought it was the work of the ancients, and sighed that it could not be contemporary.

Lu Zhaolin traveled with Li Yuanyu as an aide to King Deng. However, according to the Tang Dynasty system, in order to prevent the prince from colluding with the bureaucrats of the palace, it was stipulated that the term of office of the bureaucrats in the prince's palace could not exceed the "four examinations".

Two years and one examination, four examinations is eight years.

That is to say, Lu Zhaolin could not stay in the Palace of King Deng for more than eight years.

At the end of the fourth examination period, Lu Zhaolin had to leave the Palace of Deng Wang.

After leaving the palace of King Deng, King Deng arranged for him to serve as a county lieutenant in Xindu County, Yizhou (present-day Chengdu, Sichuan).

But this place is not a satisfactory place for Lu Zhaolin! Compared with the canonical signature from the eight pins when he first entered the army, the new lieutenant of Yizhou was only a petty official who was under the nine pins and 3 levels lower.

Moreover, in Yizhou, Lu Zhaolin looked up, there were no relatives and friends, and there was no Bole like King Deng.

He once claimed that "even if the dragon is slaying, the carving is just in place, the next pen is flying in the clouds, and the paper is falling back to the phoenix" (since my debut, it did not take long to learn the superb skills like the skill of slaying the dragon, emulating the success of the sages' study of literature, the article fell into the pen, the smoke flew in the clouds, and the luan returned to the phoenix), but now it is "not enough to eat, the strength is insufficient" and "the beauty is not to be seen".

Filled with grief and indignation, Lu Zhaolin angrily wrote a cynical poem "Gifting The Officials of the House of Benefits". And it was this poem that brought him a prison sentence.

In the poem, he prides himself on being a big bird from Northern Yan, only willing to swim with the flock of phoenixes, disdainful of falling into the "evil branches" of Western Shu, not drinking the "stolen spring water" of Western Shu, and even not interacting with the "fools" of Western Shu, so he only looks far away independently, misses my Luoyang City, and as long as the opportunity comes, he will fly in the air in one fell swoop.

In such a disparagement of the Western Shu "small group", they naturally would not easily let go of Lu Zhaolin.

Soon, Lu Zhaolin was sent to prison. He wrote in the preface to "Poor Fish Endowment": "Yu Zeng was detained for a transverse incident, and was caused by a small group of people, who will be deeply discussed and saved by friends." ”

He did not say what was being detained. However, from the poem, it can be seen that Lu Zhaolin and the Yizhou group are already inseparable, and even if there is nothing to do, they will not let Lu Zhaolin have a good life.

Fortunately, his friends knew that something had happened to Lu Zhaolin, so they quickly took care of various things and finally rescued him.

After his release from prison, Lu Zhaolin began a three-year travel career.

First, he met Luo Bin, who was also in Shudi, and then he met Wang Bo, who was equally frustrated.

He and Wang Bo both had pity for each other, and their interests were very similar, and they often traveled together, drank wine and chanted poetry, watched the mountains and waters, and enjoyed them.

And wrote "the voice that belongs to the Tang Dynasty" - "Chang'an Ancient Meaning".

But the good times were always short-lived, and Luo Bin and Wang Bo were recalled to the capital one after another. Lu Zhaolin continued to travel poorly in Shudi, but fortunately, during the Lantern Festival, Lu Zhaolin met his beloved, the Guo woman.

"Don't have a thousand golden smiles, come to reflect the nine branches" A woman standing in front of the nine branches of the lamp, smiling and opening her face, the candlelight reflects her bright eyes and teeth. This scene fell at a glance.

Lu Zhaolin and the Guo woman had a wonderful time together.

There are close friends to accompany, there are beautiful people, there are wine, there are beautiful views, and more importantly, they have a healthy body. These three years may be the happiest and happiest time in the second half of Lu Zhaolin's life.

Later, when Lu Zhaolin's term of office expired, he wanted to return to Chang'an to participate in the "canon selection" of the officials, and the Guo woman did not accompany her because she was pregnant. Lu Zhaolin promised that the Guo woman would come back to marry her when she became famous, but this time, it was also a farewell.

Lu Zhaolin came to beijing to take the exam, but the results were not satisfactory, and his political ambitions once again became a bubble.

At this time, he did not know when he offended Wu Zetian's nephew Wu Sansi, pointing out that the sentence "The Liang family painting cabinet rises in the sky, and the Han Emperor's golden stem is straight" in his poem "Chang'an Guyi", which is slandering the Wu court. He was thus thrown into prison, which aggravated the blow to him.

Thanks to the fact that he had made many friends in the capital before, he was able to get out of prison.

But then, his father died, the family beams fell, the family road fell, according to the system Lu Zhaolin to return to the hometown to guard his father's filial piety for three years, during which he could not go anywhere, could not do anything.

But this was not enough, shortly after his release from prison, Lu Zhaolin was infected with "wind disease", which is leprosy according to today's words. There is still no cure for this disease, let alone in the Tang Dynasty, which is far behind today.

With sadness and loss, Lu Zhaolin lived in seclusion in the depths of the Taibai Mountains in Chang'an and began to live an isolated life.

The torment of illness aroused his desire to live even more.

He studied medicine and healed himself. In the lonely courtyard under the Taibai Mountain, Lu Zhaolin relied on the careful conditioning of the medicine king Sun Simiao and survived.

But the condition continued to deteriorate, and even if the medicine king was by his side, there was nothing he could do.

Once, after taking the elixir he had refined, he was severely poisoned and his hands and siblings were destroyed.

At this time, Lu Zhaolin was close to being a waste.

Think of the spirit of my youth, longing to be like a bird facing the waves, "before the sand, long on the white clouds."

And look at the current self, the face is like a withered mallet, the limbs are like decaying wood, and there is only the end of "often afraid of the autumn wind early, drifting zero jun does not know".

So he began to build a tomb for himself in the courtyard.

One hoe, two hoes, three hoes, four hoes... The tomb was not built, and the heart was deified.

That grave buried the young man's education away from home, buried the name of his visit to the famous Confucian Cheng, buried the friends he had made at the bottom of his heart, and buried the zhi he had cultivated over the years...

Later, Sun Simiao's immortal death became the last straw that crushed him.

He finally made up his mind to leave the world that had made him sad.

Writing this, I seem to see an old man as thin as a bone, with the eyes of a leper, creeping to the ground, crawling towards Yingshui little by little.

Faced with the turbulent rapids, he did not hesitate at all.

In his eyes, the world may have turned gray.

He could not realize his political ambitions, could not bear the torment of illness, and the double blow of spirit and body made him hopeless about life.

When he threw himself into Yingshui, he must still be as melancholy as ever, fantasizing as always, until the god of death arrived as scheduled, and then calmly closed his eyes, as if he was sure that he had won the immortal reputation.
