Assassination, manslaughter: Before and after Huang Yuansheng was killed

Let's first take a look at the things that Huang Yuansheng did at the end of his life!

Huang Yuansheng left Shanghai on October 24, 1915, on a Japanese ferry, and went to the United States via Japan. However, as soon as Huang Yuansheng arrived in the United States, the anti-Yuan people among the overseas Chinese rushed to tell each other that Yuan Shikai's own family had come, which of course was an error in the translation of Huang Yuansheng's name, but domestic propaganda also fueled the waves; and the local Kuomintang people were also propagating, so that the overseas Chinese thought that Huang Yuansheng had gone to the Americas to advocate imperialism, although many people in China were suspicious. As a result, two months later, on the afternoon of December 25, when Huang Yuansheng was eating in the Guangzhou Building in San Francisco's Chinatown, Lin Sen assigned Liu Beihai to shoot him from behind, when he was under 31 years old...

In fact, Lin Sen really misunderstood him, and Huang Yuansheng did not support Yuan Shikai's claim to the title of emperor, nor did he advocate the title of emperor. Although before this, Yuan Shikai had always hoped that Huang Yuansheng could help him.

In 1915, Yuan Shikai prepared to become emperor, in order to create momentum for himself, he tried his best to bribe well-known people to advocate for him, and when he took a fancy to Huang Yuansheng, he tried to take him under his banner, hoping that Huang Yuansheng could create a momentum for him. He hired Huang Yuansheng as the chief writer of his royal "Asia Newspaper" in Shanghai, and although Huang Yuansheng was unwilling in his heart, he did not dare to explicitly refuse. At this time, Yuan Shikai sent someone to huang Yuansheng to tell Huang Yuansheng that if he could write an article for Yuan in favor of the imperial system, he would get many benefits, including 100,000 yuan plus ministerial positions.

However, in the end, Huang Yuansheng did not compromise, he published "Huang Yuansheng opposed the imperial system and resigned from the Yuan newspaper appointment notice", clearly expressed his opposition to the imperial system, broke with Yuan Shikai, and then published a notice in the "Declaration" and "Current Affairs New Paper" for 9 consecutive days, announcing that he was disconnected from the previous newspaper and the so-called "Asia Newspaper".

However, the Asia Newspaper still listed his name as the chief author, which made Huang Yuansheng have to declare in the "Declaration" advertising column for 7 consecutive days, in order to avoid Yuan Shikai's pursuit, he simply prepared to go abroad, which has the story of Huang Yuansheng going to the United States mentioned above. Unfortunately, the rumors of Yuan Shikai and others have achieved results, and the overseas Chinese in the Americas all think that he supports the imperial system, and this time he came to the United States to publicize the imperial system, and as a result, he died.
