Garlic is the main underground pest
There are many pests under garlic, common ones are maggots, late-eyed mushroom mosquitoes, grubs, ground tigers and so on
Ground maggots are the collective name of species flies and onion fly larvae, is the most widespread occurrence area of garlic production, the most harmful underground pests, mainly larvae as pests garlic underground bulbs, larvae into the garlic bulbs, causing rot, aboveground leaves yellowing, wilting and even death in pieces. After the victimization, it often causes the lack of seedlings and ridges, and even the destruction of the whole field. In general, arid plots, weak growth plots and sandy soils with high and dry terrain occur relatively heavily.
Leek maggots are the larvae of The late-eyed mushroom mosquito, mainly distributed in the northern provinces and regions of China, is the main underground pest of leeks, green onions and garlic and other onion garlic vegetables, larvae gather on garlic bulbs, bite bulbs or underground stems and leaves, affect plant growth, severe when the plant withers and dies.
Grubs commonly known as large teeth, white soil silkworms, ground drains, etc. are the larvae of scarab beetles, and have become one of the main pests of garlic due to the large amount of straw returned to the field. Mainly larvae lurk in the soil to harm the roots of garlic, causing garlic seedlings to die.
Ground tigers are commonly known as soil silkworms, night thieves, root-cutting insects, etc., including yellow land tigers and small ground tigers, mainly with larvae to harm the surface of the young stem, lurking in the soil cracks around the seedlings during the day, coming out at night to harm garlic seedlings, biting the garlic seedlings from the surface, and dragging the seedlings to the mouth of the hole to eat, a larva can harm several seedlings at night, resulting in a lack of seedlings and ridges.
Prevention and control methods
(1) Soil treatment: before garlic sowing, combined with land preparation fertilization, 5% imidacloprid granules per mu 3 to 5 kg, mixed with organic fertilizer 15 ~ 20 kg evenly spread, can effectively control grubs, leek maggots, root maggots, small land tigers and other underground pests, the effective period of up to 80 ~ 120 days.
(2) Pharmaceutical seed mixing: before garlic sowing, the seed coat can be removed, and the seed coating agent of 52% imidacloprid, roxa and benzo is used to mix seeds according to the ratio of 1:200 of the drug species, which can effectively control grubs, root maggots, leeks, ground tigers, root rot, and the effective period can reach more than 80 days, the effect period is long, the effect is good, and it basically ensures that the entire growth period will not occur underground pests.
