Hunan Daily, New Hunan Client, September 17 (Special Correspondent Xu Weijun) On September 16, more than 50 literary experts and professors who participated in the Summit Forum on Modern Chinese Literature and the First National Wu Minshu Academic Seminar made a special trip to Gongcheng Village, Rongjiawan Town, Yueyang County, to visit Wu Minshu's former residence, the ruins of Tingyulou and the cemetery, and to learn more about Wu Minshu's life story, literary attainments and spiritual qualities.
Wu Minshu (1805-1873), a famous writer and historian of the Qing Dynasty, a native of Baling (Yueyang) County, was familiar with reading the collection of scriptures and history since childhood, immersed himself in research and learning, and became a well-known ancient scholar at home and abroad, writing millions of words. Wu Minshu and Zuo Zongtang are the same people, and they sing with Zeng Guofan. Zeng Guofan urged Wu Minshu to serve as the governor of Liangjiang, but Wu Wan refused. In 1873, Wu Minshu went to Changsha to revise the "Hunan Tongzhi", died of illness in his apartment, and was buried in the Yueyang family cemetery. Guo Songtao, a famous diplomat in the late Qing Dynasty and a Xiangyin man, commented: "The grandeur of articles in Hunan in the past two hundred years was first recommended by Zeng Wu. "Zeng" refers to Zeng Guofan, and "Wu" means Wu Minshu.
The Summit Forum on Modern Chinese Literature and the First Wu Minshu Academic Seminar were held in Hunan Institute of Technology on September 15-16, sponsored by the Chinese Modern Literature Society, Hunan Institute of Technology, Yueyang County Party Committee and County People's Government, jointly organized by the Chinese College of Hunan Polytechnic Institute and the Propaganda Department of Yueyang County Party Committee, and co-organized by the Institute of Literature of Hunan Academy of Social Sciences and the Wu Minshu Literary Research Association of Yueyang County. The seminar mainly studied the trends of modern Chinese literature, the literary creation and literary thought of the Huxiang school in modern times, the life deeds of Wu Minshu, The prose and poetry of Wu Minshu, the literary thought of Wu Minshu, wu Minshu and the development of regional cultural tourism.
In recent years, Yueyang County attaches great importance to the excavation of Wu Minshu culture, approves the establishment of the Wu Minshu Literature Research Association, and puts forward the concept of building a Wu Minshu cultural town. "We hope to build Wu Minshu Characteristic Cultural Town into a new cultural business card in Yueyang, form a cultural tourism route with Yueyang Lou and Quzi Cultural Park, drive the development of rural tourism, and make the connotation of Yueyang Historical and Cultural City more full." Wu Daping, secretary general of the Wu Minshu Literary Research Association, said with great anticipation.
