Wang Duo's book "Gifts to John The Poetry of Tang" album
This is an album written by Wang Duo for a foreign missionary to China, John Tang.
John Tang arrived in China in 1622 , and later , at the request of Xu Guangqi , was recruited by the imperial court to participate in the revision of the calendar , beginning his thirty-eight-year career in the Ming and Qing dynasties of China. In the first year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1662), after eighteen years of supervising the affairs of Guan Qintian, Tang Ruowang was finally awarded the title of Guanglu Dafu, and was able to wear a pint belt and embroidered crane to supplement the costume, becoming one of the europeans with the highest rank in History in China, and was one of the very few distant subjects who were awarded three generations and were specially honored.
Wang Duo surrendered in Nanjing in the second year of Shunzhi (1645) and arrived in Beijing with the Qing general Duo Zheng. Or because he heard that John Tang had taken over the qingqin tianjian in December of the previous year, he decided to give a volume of handwritten books, and the contents were selected from the four seven-word poems that he gave to John Tang during the years of Worship (1628-1644). Although the purpose of his writing was never clearly stated in this album (a bound calligraphy work), due to Wang's poverty and illness at the time, he obviously hoped that this old work would remind the upstart Tang of their previous friendship and help them.
The booklet of the poem has two seals, "Yungu Ye Family Collection" and "South China Sea Ye Family Collection", which can be seen as having been collected by Ye Menglong (1775-1832), and Ye's friends Weng Fanggang (1733-1818) and Qian Tuo (1744-1806) have a view. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the People's Republic, this volume belonged to Pei Jingfu (1854-1926), and in 1914, the Shanghai Civilization Book Company published "Inkblots of Wang Juesi's Poetry", which borrowed this work, and in 1936, it was originally obtained as Ye Gongqi, and the Tibetan seals such as "Panyu Yeshi" and "Gongqi Longevity" were added to the prints of the Erxuan Society. Later, Chen Yuan, tutor of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Studies of Peking University and director of the Beijing Normal Library, borrowed the original from Ye Gongqiu, drew the character frame with a fine pen, and then copied it in the form of thick ink extension, and changed the original album format to a banner for circulation.
