Until the age of ten, Chen Zhao was always a football "layman" and fell in love with football because he watched the 2006 World Cup. Since no one among the children wanted to be goalkeepers, Chen Zhao volunteered to become the goalkeeper of the varsity team, and according to his own words, his idea at that time was that as long as he could play, it didn't matter what position he played.
At the beginning of 2010, the coach of the Shanghai Lucky Star Club at that time found Chen Zhao, thinking that he was in good condition in all aspects, and if he went to Shang'a Hui to receive a higher level of training, there would definitely be greater improvement.
Chen Zhao, who started his career in Spain at the end of 2011, has played for Sevilla (U15), Huelva (U18), Real Betis B, Atletico Madrid (U18) and Pozuello. During his six years in Spain, Chen Zhao has made great progress in terms of body, mind and technology.
In the summer of 2017, Chen Zhao joined Shanghai Shenhua after ending his career in Foreign Countries. At the beginning of his return to China, Chen Zhao served as the main goalkeeper in the Shenhua reserve team. In the 2019 season, Chen Zhao ushered in a major leap in his career, when Shenhua head coach Flores arranged Chen Zhao to start in the FA Cup match against Shenzhen, and Chen Zhao Shenhua's first-team debut did not disappoint the manager, helping the team to keep a clean sheet. In the 2020 season, with the joining of the national goalkeeper Zeng Cheng and U23 goalkeeper Ma Zhen, Chen Zhao, who lost the U23 "protective umbrella", once became the fourth goalkeeper of the Shenhua team.
