Yesterday, a class of students who had been taking two and a half years graduated. This class of students, I was halfway to take over, and I also experienced several changes in the middle, and the shortest student only took a few months. But as they walked past the red carpet and hugged me, I couldn't stop crying.
To be together is to rejoice, and to be apart is necessarily to be sad. Just like I told them in the last lesson: the teacher waits for them to come home often, but not coming back does not mean that they do not miss it. This passage I told the children in my last lesson was actually inspired by the book "Meet Tuesday". Meet Tuesday is a book I've just read recently, and it's very short and very impressive.
The book's author, Mickey (who is also his college teacher's nickname for him), has a college teacher, Professor Morrie, who has great respect and affection. At the time of graduation, they hug and meet regularly.
But after graduating, Mickey experienced so many setbacks in society that he wanted to cut off any connection with the past, including his college life. For sixteen years, any letter from the university had been thrown in the trash by him.
Although he later had a successful career, the emptiness of his soul and his thinking about life still puzzled him. By chance, he saw news from his teacher Morrie on television. It turned out that Morrie was terminally ill and would soon die.
At the last moment of his life, Morrie wants to leave the world with true thoughts about life and death. So, the story happened! Mickey visits the teacher and becomes the only student of the teacher's "last lesson". They meet every Tuesday for class, the teacher says, and the students listen. There is no graduation exam, it is impossible to repeat it, and the last lesson is the funeral.
So, for more than 100 days, Mickey flew seven hundred miles every Tuesday to attend classes with his teacher. Mickey asked many questions, and Mr. Morrie used his life wisdom to give answers and thoughts, such as how to face others, face love, face fear; how to face family, feelings and marriage, money and culture, aging and death, and so on.
After the teacher's death, Mickey sorted out the contents of the class and wrote this book, which caused a sensation at once. I think it should be so popular.
Because in the face of death, few people are detached. Even if you have some thoughts and feelings, you will rarely have the opportunity to express yourself. Your health care workers, your loved ones, at the last minute, want you to do: rest, eat well and drink well. From this point of view, Morrie is lucky.
And as he himself said: I'm lucky! Mickey was confused, a terminally ill person, the body slowly can not move, eat and drink Lasa have to be taken care of by others, what luck can speak of! Morrie said: Because of this, I can stop and think. Think about life and death, think about what we want, think about what kind of life we should pursue.
Morrie still enjoys the life, and he thinks he's back in his childhood, his memory awakened by the feeling of being cared for in the depths of his memory. Look, what an optimistic and strong person!
