Jin Rong was born in Suzhou. He lived in Caohejing, Shanghai as a child, and in 1884 he worked as an apprentice in the city god temple CuiHuatang painting shop. In 1892, he was admitted to the Old North Gate Of the French Concession in Shanghai as a detective. In 1917, he was promoted to inspector general after solving the case. At the same time, a common stage, a Nisshinike bath, a grand view garden bathroom, a Rongji grand stage, a big world, a golden theater and other profits were opened.

In the 1920s, he cooperated with Du Yuesheng and Zhang Xiaolin to run the Sanxin Company to monopolize the opium trade. After that, the organization of personnel to form a larger force. On the one hand, the protection of the interests of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang consortiums and in Shanghai was supported by Shanghai's business tycoons; on the other hand, it protected some political figures, such as Sun Yat-sen, Hu Hanmin, Wang Jingwei and other revolutionaries, and was later connived by the Nationalist government. In addition, to a certain extent, it also protected the compatriots in Jiangsu and Zhejiang and suppressed the forces of the "Jiangbei people" in Shanghai at that time.

In 1925, he retired from the patrol house and built a garden (now Guilin Park) in the Caohejing Ancestral Hall. Huang Jinrong once had a grudge with Lu Xiaojia over the Song Ji on the Shanghai Gong Stage, Lu Xiaojia was the son of the local warlord Lu Yongxiang, and asked for help from Lu Yongxiang's subordinate Songhu Protector He Fenglin, He Fenglin sent a platoon of gendarmes to kidnap Jin Rong and detain him in the Longhua Escort Military Mission Detention Center, and later Jin Rong's wife heard that He Fenglin's mother believed in Buddhism, and sent a three-foot white and Khotanese Jade Guanyin statue to He Mu and the seven-foot Shen Xiang Mu Dharma Ancestor Buddha statue to He Mu, and he Mother ordered He Fenglin to meet the Huang family. Zhang Xiaolin's relatives Yu Yefeng persuaded Lu Yongxiang, and Du Yuesheng visited Zhang Renkui's representative in Shanghai, Wu Kunshan, and asked Zhang Renkui to intercede, and finally impressed He Fenglin, and Jin Rongnai was released. Du Yuesheng sighed afterwards and said, "Xizi, Daiji, the beauty of man, that is, birds and beasts also love it, Fu Cha, Yin Lu He Foot Daoye." "Mocking Jin Rong almost lost his life because of the competition for beauty."

After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in 1937, Jin Jinrong, Du Yuesheng, Zhang Xiaolin and others supported the Battle of Songhu, and after the fall of Shanghai, they stayed in Shanghai, pretending to be demented and refusing to serve the Japanese.

In the spring of 1949, as the Footsteps of the People's Liberation Army drew closer and closer to Shanghai, Du Yuesheng made up his mind to leave Hong Kong. Before leaving, Du Yuesheng visited Jin Rong and hoped that Jin Rong would go to Hong Kong with him. At this time, Jin Rong was 81 years old, and he refused Du Yuesheng's invitation and chose to stay.

The reason why Jin Jinrong chose to stay, in addition to wanting to return to the roots, in fact, there are other ideas in his heart. Throughout his life, Jin Rong has always responded to changes with the same, and the result has been repeatedly turned into disaster, he believes that this time can also be so, the People's Liberation Army will not embarrass him. It is not unreasonable for Jin Rong to think so, he has a good friend named Yang Hu, who once served as the commander of the Songhu garrison. Yang Hu established secret contact with the People's Liberation Army on the eve of the liberation of Shanghai, and he was instructed to help stabilize the leader of the Shanghai gang, especially to actively do the work of Jin Rong and let him stay in Shanghai, which would have a great effect on the stability of Shanghai's social order in the early liberation period and deterring the remnants of the gang.

After the liberation of Shanghai, Jin Rong spent a short period of time in a relatively comfortable life. Jin Rong immediately ordered someone to write a roster of more than 400 gang leaders and hand it over to the People's Liberation Army. At the same time, Jin Rong strictly requires his disciples to learn to converge a bit. At that time, the characterization given to Jin Rong was as follows: "Affirming Huang's past crimes is indeed a bully cultivated by imperialism; but Huang has stopped committing evil in recent years, bowed to the government after liberation and confessed his guilt, crippled and aged; the reactionary gang forces should adopt the strategy of struggle and disintegration, and Huang himself should adopt a lenient policy." When the People's Liberation Army came to Jin Rong's residence to announce the policy, Jin Rong repeatedly said: "I have done all kinds of bad things in Shanghai Beach for decades, selling drugs, trafficking in human beings, killing people and kidnapping tickets. After this incident, Jin Jinrong was allowed to continue to operate the "Big World" playground in Shanghai.

Jin Rong had three women in his life: his wife Lin Guisheng, who was in his career for Jin Rong, spread contacts and money, opened a casino theater garden, and was the most capable woman behind Jin Rong; the second wife, Lu Lanchun, who was originally an old actor in Peking Opera, was married by Jin Rong as a wife in 1922, and after divorcing Jin Rong three years later, he married Xue Heng, the second son of a rich merchant in the pigment industry on Shanghai Beach, eloped with true love, but he was also in love; the third wife, Li Zhiqing, who was originally Lin Guisheng's maid, first married her adopted son and became a widow, and Jin Rong took advantage of the void. But before liberation, Li Zhiqing took his family's money to Hong Kong.

In the last year of Jin Rong's life, only the personal maid Zhang Guiying was loyal to Jin Rong. In order to repay Zhang Guiying's loyalty, Jin Jinrong built a meditation nunnery for her in her hometown of Yechangjing, Beiqiao Town, Suzhou.

On May 20, 1951, Jin Jinrong published a confession in Wen Wei Po and The News, stating that he was "willing to confess his repentance to the people" and that he would "wash away the stains of his personal history and become a man again." Soon, a photograph of Jin Rong sweeping the street in front of the "Big World" playground shocked countless people, even though the photo was posed. Du Yuesheng, who was far away in Hong Kong at the time, also saw this photo, according to Du Yuesheng's daughter Du Meiru once said: "He did not dare to learn from Master Jin Rong to stay in Shanghai, and staked the fate of his whole family and his subordinates." Later, the 83-year-old Jin Jinrong swept the road at the entrance of Shanghai's 'Big World', and his father saw it. On June 20, 1953, Jin Rong died in Shanghai at the age of 83.

Sadly, after His death, Jin Rong was destitute, and his relatives found that his property could not afford even a coffin. Just when his relatives were worried about this, Gu Zhuxuan, the "tycoon of Jiangbei", bought a coffin for Jin Rong, and Jin Rong had to be buried. Jin Rong was first buried in Suzhou Lingyan Mountain Xiugu Cemetery, and during the special period, Jin Rong's cemetery was seriously damaged, and the cemetery was bulldozed and planted with orange trees.
