Shi Liang

Shi Liang was born into an intellectual family in Changzhou, but his family was so poor that Shi Liang was not officially enrolled in school until he was 14 years old. However, Shi Liang's parents are extremely enlightened people, and his father, who has accepted new ideas, often talks with Shi Liang, which makes Shi Liang know many historical stories, and a patriotic heart has sprouted.

Shi Liang is very good at learning, and she cherishes this hard-won learning opportunity, all thanks to Shi Liang's eldest sister: "I can't forget, my dear eldest sister, how to help my parents when I was young, especially in middle school, to give us school, so that we have today." My only dear eldest sister, her kind, kind, simple and sincere attitude will always be my strong and pleasant driving force."

Shi Liang was born in a turbulent era, which doomed her to not live a stable childhood. When she was 7 years old, because her family was poor, her mother arbitrarily set her up with a rich man surnamed Liu to marry her, and after Shi Liang knew about it, she protested through hunger strike, and it was obvious that Xiao Shi Liang won in the end. Perhaps from this time on, the idea of speaking up for women had taken root in her heart.

In 1919, the May Fourth Movement broke out, inspiring patriotic feelings throughout the nation, and Shi Liang also actively participated in this movement, and at that time she was already the president of the Changzhou Women's Teachers' Alumni Association. Shi Liang, who was on the way to school, was very studious and used his achievements to repay the teaching support given to her by his eldest sister. However, Shi Liang, who entered Hosei University, found that there was no knowledge to be learned here, and money was paramount here, but the quality of teaching was ignored. So Shi Liang participated in the school's struggle against money, and as a result, 4 students were expelled. Shi Liang deeply felt the unfairness of the school, she took the podium, theorized with the principal, and formed a school protection group with 100 students to defend the rights of students.

It happened that at this time, Dong Kang, a well-known tycoon in Shanghai's judicial circles, served as the president of Shanghai Law University, and Shi Liang and more than 100 students who participated in the school protection group all left Fazheng University and entered Shanghai Law University, and Shi Liang became Dong Kang's proud protégé. After graduating from college, Shi Liang entered the firm opened by Dong Kang, and her brilliant knowledge and fluent language ability were favored by Mr. Dong Kang, who not only invited her to become his assistant, carefully cultivated, but also let her participate in the case and appear in court, so Shi Liang became a member of the firm.

After the "918" incident, Shi Liang actively participated in the anti-Japanese patriotic movement of the Masses in Shanghai, and also joined the "Revolutionary Mutual Aid Association", a peripheral organization of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai to rescue the arrested and distressed comrades, and served as a lawyer for the association. She was not afraid of the danger to her life, actively ran, and went all out to rescue the Communist Party members and patriots arrested by the Kuomintang government, and at the same time she also received high praise and trust from the Party Central Committee.

In 1935, Japan further invaded North China, the survival of the Chinese nation was imminent, under the influence of the "August 1st Declaration" issued by the Communist Party of China, Shi Liang took the lead in initiating the establishment of Shanghai's first national salvation group——— the Shanghai Women's Salvation Association, and was elected as the leader of the Women's Salvation Association.

After the establishment of the National Salvation Congress, it organized and led a series of anti-Japanese patriotic activities, opposed the Kuomintang's erroneous national policy of "staying inside and outside the country," and called for the cessation of the civil war to unite and resist Japan. Out of the need for internal and foreign policy, the Kuomintang brazenly arrested Shi Liang, Shen Junru, Zhang Naiqi, Zou Taofen, Li Gongpu, Wang Zaoshi, and Sha Qianli, seven patriotic leaders, creating the famous "Seven Gentlemen" incident in Modern Chinese history, and Shi Liang was the only female gentleman among the "Seven Gentlemen." While in prison, Shi Liang adhered to his patriotic stance, was upright and awe-inspiring, and was indifferent to the Kuomintang's abduction, and later, under the rescue of the people of the whole country, Shi Liang and others were released from prison.

After her release from prison, Shi Liang actively participated in the anti-Japanese movement, as one of the leaders of the Women's Salvation Congress, she was also the only woman in the national political participation, she fought unremittingly to protect women's rights, and sought equality between men and women. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Shi Liang also served as the executive director of the Wartime Child Care Association and the director of the design committee. The Nursery School has set up more than 40 nursery schools throughout the country, hosting and nurturing more than 20,000 children. Shi Liang also served as the executive director of the China Women's Association, united patriotic women from all walks of life, and did a lot of work for the cause of political democracy and women's liberation.

On March 19, 1941, the Chinese Democratic Political League was proclaimed, and the following year Shi Liang joined the Chinese Democratic Political League. In November 1945, the first national congress of the Chinese Democratic League was held, and Shi Liang was co-elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic League and a standing member of the Central Committee of the Democratic League. After Shi Liang joined the Democratic League, he changed from helping a small number of people to paying attention to the people's livelihood, especially for fighting for equality between men and women and protecting women's rights and interests. In June 1949, Shi Liang went to Beiping and was invited to participate in the preparations for the New Chinese Political Consultative Conference. Regarding the discretionary issue of the list of new CPPCC members, Zhou Enlai specifically solicited opinions from Shi Liang, who pointed out: "I did not participate in the old CPPCC, basically there were no women deputies, and I hope that the new CPPCC will be able to pay attention to the quota of women's deputies." This is enough to show her struggle for women's rights and her good hopes for the new CPPCC.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Shi Liang served as the first minister of the Ministry of Justice, and was elected as the executive member and vice chairman of the All-China Women's Federation, as a representative figure of the Chinese women's community, she devoted a lot of effort, personally participated in the formulation of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China, and abolished the feudal marriage system such as male superiority over female inferiority and arranged forced labor. Advocating freedom of marriage, equality between men and women, and practicing monogamy has done a great thing for the majority of women.

In his later years, Shi Liang

It seems that all meritorious people will be falsely criticized by the Cultural Revolution, and so will Shi Liang, who was raided by the rebels, ordered to write inspections and participate in labor, fortunately protected by Zhou Enlai, and she was saved from greater disasters. After the "Gang of Four" was crushed, the country was on the right track, and Shi Liang was rehabilitated, but her health was also greatly damaged by the death of her husband, and on September 6, 1985, Shi Liang died of illness at the age of 85. She gave all the remuneration for more than ten houses in Shanghai that she had received in 1948 for undertaking a large inheritance case to the state, and another three-story house with more than 60 rooms was allocated to the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League for office use, leaving no inheritance to her relatives after her birth.

Who is Shi Liang? I think many people don't know, she is not Song Qingling, not the wife of a celebrity, she is not a famous person, she is her, her whole life has been for the liberation of the country, for the liberation of women, but also for the unity and strength of the country, but few people remember her. She has lived her life, with the law as a weapon, she is a hero, she deserves our commemoration! Today is September 6th, but also the day of Shi Liang's death, let us pay tribute to and remember this heroine of the legal and political circles, thank her for her contribution to women's liberation, my generation should be grateful, ride the wind and waves, continue to move forward, and continue to struggle for the rejuvenation of the country!
