Talented woman of the Republic of China - Shi Liang

The Republic of China, as a turbulent period in modern China, many talented women, some of them are stars in the social arena, some are educators who advocate women's rights, some are dazzling stars on the stage, some are outstanding poets, painters... Shi Liang is the first minister of the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China. On March 27, 1900, Shi Liang (Zi Cunchu) was born into a family of intellectuals in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. Before entering school, she had learned to read with her father, and learned many historical stories from her father's talks and stories with a wide range of knowledge and new ideas, which gave birth to a preliminary national consciousness and patriotic thoughts.

During her time at the school, she repeatedly encouraged business strikes and workers' strikes, and she often gave propaganda speeches outside to boycott Japanese goods. Later, he decided to study law and do practical things for the people. After graduation, after several twists and turns, I finally got my lawyer's license. Her many divorce cases have made her aware of the persecution of contemporary women. She deeply realized that only when women are liberated can a society be called a true liberation truth.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Shi Liang served as a suffragan member of the National Council of Political Participation and was the only woman in the Association, and waged an unremitting struggle to demand that the Kuomintang government implement democracy and protect women's rights. She strives to enshrine in the Constitution equality between men and women and to guarantee women's rights. For example, in the fight for constitutionalism, she insisted on the equal rights of men and women, proposing not only to clearly stipulate the fact of equality between men and women in the "general outline" of the constitution, but also to include in the chapter "National Assembly" that the number of women's representatives should not be less than 15%, or even more. Her approach was a pioneering effort to fight for women's rights in a semi-colonial feudal society.

Under the White Terror, Shi Liang engaged in the underground work of the NLD and did a lot of work in propagating democracy, protecting the NLD organization, and connecting with the masses. Shi Liang called for the establishment of a new lawyer system and notary system, and also proposed the establishment of a people's assessor system. She also participated in the formulation of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China, which abolished the feudal marriage system such as arranged forced and male superiority over female inferiority. The introduction of freedom of marriage, equality between men and women, and monogamy has done a great thing for the majority of women. Great attention was also paid to connecting and uniting women from all walks of life in a joint commitment to socialist construction.

Shi Liang's life has pushed a new era for Chinese law. Everyone has a high opinion of it. Chairman Mao Zedong called him a female haojie. "Party History Overview": She, as a woman, but does not let her eyebrows be raised, is one of the famous "Seven Gentlemen" of the Salvation Congress. Shi Liang, with his strong and firm faith, wrote a chapter of song and tears for the women of new China.
