Shi Liang, a native of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, joined the Anti-Japanese Salvation Movement and the Women's Movement in 1935, and was famous for being the only young woman among the "Seven Gentlemen" of the National Salvation Congress. Chairman Mao spoke highly of Shi Liang, calling her "a heroic master among women."

Shi Liang, born in 1900, is the son of a private school master and his mother is a housewife. After the outbreak of the "May Fourth Movement", schools in Changzhou went on strike one after another. One day, Shi Liang saw a small wooden board with a "suspension order" hanging at the entrance of the school, and she tore it off in anger, and then risked her life to find the county governor. After some fighting, the prefectural governor retracted the order to suspend the school.
In 1923, Shi Liang was admitted to the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, initially studying politics and later transferring to law. This choice determined the path of her life. After graduating from university, Shi Liang was assigned to an administrative unit to work, and because he confronted a Kuomintang bureaucrat in person, Shi Liang was actually imprisoned.
In prison, she saw the indomitable integrity of the Communists, who would rather die unjustly than bow to the evil forces under any circumstances; at the same time, she also saw clearly what the Kuomintang was doing, killing innocents indiscriminately and committing no evil deeds. During this period, Shi Liang said that he had "woken up from the fog of innocence"

In 1931, Shi Liang became a lawyer, and she did everything she could to avenge the poor. The poor came to her for justice, she did not collect a penny, and even posted a miscellaneous fee. She believes that it is worth it to win benefits for the poor more than anything else.
In the first half of Shi Liang's career as a lawyer, she rescued many Communist Party members, the most famous of which was Deng Zhongxia. Regarding the Deng Zhongxia case, I will not introduce too much here, and interested students can consult it for themselves. The Deng Zhongxia case had a great impact on Shi Liang, and it was against this background that Shi Liang joined the ranks of the patriotic salvation movement and became a political activist concerned about the fate of the country and the nation.
In 1936, Shi Liang joined the "National Federation of National Salvation Congresses from All Walks of Life", and then suffered a prison sentence, along with her arrested Shen Junru, Zhang Naiqi, Zou Taofen, Li Gongpu, Wang Zaoshi, Sha Qianli, which is the famous "Seven Gentlemen" of the National Salvation Congress, Shi Liang is the only woman among these seven.
Shi Liang was not afraid or idle in prison; on the one hand, she used the enemy's court as a pulpit to publicize the great principle of resisting Japan and saving the country; on the other hand, she became a volunteer lawyer for female prisoners, helping them analyze the case and telling them the methods of appealing and defending their rights.
Shi Liang was imprisoned for seven months. After her release from prison, she continued to mobilize women to participate in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and fought for women's equal and legal rights, and was one of the important leaders of the Women's Movement in the Great Rear Area.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Shi Liang became the first Minister of Justice. The Marriage Law is the first major law of the People's Republic of China, and it has made great innovations in protecting women's rights and interests and freedom of marriage. And Shi Liang was one of the drafters of this law.
Shi Liang served two terms as Minister of Justice. Chairman Mao also called Shi Liang a "heroic master among women." Although the work of the Ministry of Justice is complicated, she has always done her best, no matter what, she must think of the masses, and any problem must follow the mass line. In 1979, Shi Liang was elected chairman of the Democratic League. In September 1985, Shi Liang died.

In the early days of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Shi Liang and Luo Longji had a relationship, but for some reasons, his love did not come to an end. Later, when Shi Liang was rescuing political prisoners, he met lu Diandong, his partner in this life.
Lu Diandong, born in 1907, studied in the United States and majored in international law. After returning to China, he worked as a translator in the French Concession Patrol House and spoke fluent French and English.
After Lu Diandong and Shi Liang met, at work, they sent a message, provided information about political prisoners, informed these people in advance to evacuate as soon as possible, or defended them in court, and cooperated very tacitly; in life, they had a skirt flying and a suit and leather shoes, which can be described as a man and a woman.
In 1936, when Shi Liang was arrested by the Kuomintang, Shi Liang hid in Lu Diandong's home, and then surrendered himself to the police accompanied by Lu Diandong, and eventually went to prison. On the eve of the liberation of Shanghai in 1949, the Kuomintang arrested Shi Liang in Shanghai, and Shi Liang hid in Tibet in Shanghai, and finally survived with the help of Lu Diandong. In Shi Conscience's heart, Lu Diandong was her true love, even though she was seven years old.
In 1956, when Shi Liang and several Soviet experts were playing in Beidaihe, an expert wanted to take a photo with Shi Liang, but Shi Liang refused: In this private event, when my husband was present. I wouldn't have taken a picture with anyone without him or if he wasn't there and wasn't invited.
In 1976, Lu Diandong suddenly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, and eventually died of ineffective medical treatment. At this time, Shi Liang was devastated and had been immersed in the thought of his husband.
Shi Liang and Lu Diandong also had no heirs, and their nephews asked to inherit some of the jewelry that Shi Liang had worn, but after identification, all the jewelry together was only worth 3,000 pieces.
