Tayoko Island is 1.46 square kilometers and is home to 312 families and 1,121 fishermen. As the director of the border police station, every day, his mind is filled with island security management, port ship management, nine small places management and anti-smuggling, and the work of building a model island for loving the people and fixing the border.
After getting up at 6 a.m. every morning, Chen Bohua led the other three resident police officers to train police, raise the national flag, make breakfast, and start the day's work. Visiting and investigating, conflict mediation, public security control, sea patrols, helping the masses, they are always busy, and the island has maintained a "zero incidence rate" for many years. In the case of fog and windy weather, Chen Bohua and his colleagues will always be seen patrolling on the beach by the sea. Chen Bohua and the fishermen get along day and night, like a family, the fishermen trust him, like him, affectionately call him "guardian soldier".
Tian HengDao Border Police Station is one of the two large island police stations in Qingdao, because of the south of the small hillside, the north of the sea, only 10 meters away from the beach, cold in winter and hot in summer, especially in summer it is unbearable humidity. Chen Bohua suffered from rheumatoid arthritis as a result, and every day before going to bed, he had to open the electric blanket and futon for dehumidification, which was the case all year round.
"There are two boats entering and leaving the island every day, and it is common to encounter bad weather and not be able to leave the island for about 10 days." According to Chen Bohua's recollection, once the family's children were hospitalized, and he was in a hurry on the island. The island's soil is poor, arable land is scarce, and in the face of bad weather, he and his colleagues often do not eat fresh vegetables for a long time.
Although the conditions were difficult, Chen Bohua had no complaints. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city and his family, he and his colleagues dedicated their youth to the fishermen of the island.
