Wuhan held a series of literary and artistic activities to commemorate the centenary of the birth of "Master of Chinese Opera" Chen Bohua

Wuhan, March 27 (Xinhua) -- 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese opera master Chen Bohua. Recently, a month-long performance of Benefiting the People, art exhibitions and other activities kicked off in Wuhan, comprehensively presenting Chen Bohua's artistic achievements for the majority of opera fans, reviewing her important contributions to the development of Chinese opera, and promoting the continuation and revitalization of this traditional opera in the new era.

Han opera, also known as Chu tone and Han tone, is one of the traditional Chinese dramas with a long history, the first "Pi-Huang Ensemble", which has an important position in the history of the development of Chinese opera.

In his artistic career of more than 70 years, Chen Bohua has not only successfully shaped a series of artistic images with distinct personalities and different styles in "Cosmic Front", "Erdu Mei" and "Cabinet In the Edge", but also creatively carried out all-round reform and innovation of Han opera art, carrying forward the ancient Chinese opera art.

Chen Bohua has had many exchanges with Mei Lanfang, a master of Peking Opera, and is known as "Mei Lanfang of Han Opera". At the "Han Yun Liufang - Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Han Opera Master Chen Bohua" held in Wuhan recently, Hu Wenge, a descendant of Mei Pai, and Wang Li, a descendant of Han opera Chen Pai, jointly performed a "Noble Concubine Drunk" in the form of "Two Pots in Beijing and Han", allowing the audience to fully appreciate the characteristics of these two blood-linked dramas.

In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chen Bohua's birth, Wuhan will launch a series of activities such as the Han Opera Arts Festival in the next month, with 11 professional Han theater troupes from Shaanxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangdong, Hubei and other places participating in public welfare performances, and most of the low-cost tickets of 20 yuan and 40 yuan will benefit the people.

At the same time, the "Exhibition of the Centenary of the Birth of Chen Bohua, a Master of Chinese Opera", was simultaneously opened at the Wuhan Museum, displaying Chen Bohua's precious pictures and video materials before his death, as well as the costumes, dotted headdresses, recorded records and tapes that Chen Bohua had worn in the classic repertoire.
