Hunan discovered a new species of fish "Pot Bottle Bass"

A new species of fish was found in Shimen Hu bottle mountain in Hunan Province, and was named "hu bottle mountain bass" according to the principle of naming the place where it was found. This discovery is of great significance for filling in the missing links in the long chain of evolution of the world's catfish.

Kang Zujie, deputy director of the Hunan Hujushan National Nature Reserve Management Bureau, introduced that in 2007, in the process of monitoring fish resources in the Hujushan National Nature Reserve, a suspected new species of bass fish of the genus Cunei was collected. In the following 7 years, the reserve cooperated with the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to continuously monitor, measure, collect, collate and analyze the species population and living environment, and found that the species was significantly different from the Chinese bass, the anterior glutex, the strong body and the Sichuan bass in terms of lip structure, tail stalk size, distance from the anus at the end of the ventral fin and molecular sequence, and should be an independent species.

Kang Zujie introduced that the pot bottle mountain bass is a small economic fish, which has high water quality requirements and generally lives in the upper reaches of mountains and streams with clear water flow, high dissolved oxygen and rocky mountains and rivers. The distribution of this species in Huju Mountain may be due to long-term isolation of geographical differentiation, and the specific reasons need to be further studied.
