However, the survival ability of this turtle is very strong, and what is even more unexpected is that the flat-breasted turtle is actually an animal of the same period as the dinosaurs, which is simply a living fossil!
Flat-breasted turtles have eagle-like fangs and sharp teeth, can "fly over the wall", and have a fierce temperament, and when they are hungry, they go up trees to catch birds. It is reported that the chickpeak turtle is amphibious and prefers to live in a mountain stream full of boulders and gravel, with rapid water flow. It feeds mainly on snails, clams, shellfish, shrimp, fish, crabs, frogs, insects and snails, and also eats leaves and grass roots when hungry. Sexual maturity begins in about four years, and eggs are laid from April to October. Mainly distributed in the south of China, it is the most special kind of freshwater turtle in China, and is distributed in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. It is extremely rare in the wild and is included in the Red List of Species in China.
When threatened, flat-breasted turtles will open their eyes in anger, hiss in their mouths to warn, and even directly open their mouths to bite. Once caught, sharp claws and powerful tail tails can be used to whip left and right for fierce resistance.
