Several mysterious meteorites lie like eggs in the cotton, and the sculpture of the Buddha's head from the 3rd century gazes at the sentient beings in the display case. On March 20th, artist Zhao Zhao's new exhibition "Zhao Zhao" was unveiled at the First Space of the Contemporary Tang Art Center in Beijing, exhibiting a number of representative works by Zhao Zhao integrating ancient and modern and Eastern and Western cultures.

Born in 1982 in Xinjiang, China, Zhao Zhao, as a young artist who has been active in the international art scene in recent years, pays attention to and shows the subtle changes in the human heart under the influence of multiculturalism. Curator Cui Cancan commented that Zhao Zhao's artistic vision is extremely extensive, and his creation combines traditional culture and contemporary art expression techniques, which involve elements such as Han figurines from 2,000 years ago, as well as instant noodles belonging to modern people; soft white cotton, and "bamboo ladders" made of marble.

In the exhibition work "Disconnected from the Universe", Zhao Zhao repaints and writes the long-disappeared "Book of Heaven" on the pictures of buddhist sites in the Western Regions or the remains of the Silk Road, so that the nearly lost Tocharian language can be reproduced in the painting. When Zhao Zhao left Xinjiang in 2004, his childhood memories of the western region left a deep imprint on his mind. Today, as a researcher of ancient art, he has reconnected this memory with distant history.

On one wall of the exhibition hall, there are many towering "bamboo ladders" made of white marble, this work is called "Chinese Ladder", in Zhao Zhao's view, the ladder is time, the hope of rising, but also the tool of production, condensing the wisdom of traditional Chinese craftsmen. The marble material makes the ladder have an eternal, pure romantic color, symbolizing the dream of looking up at the stars and touching the clouds and picking stars. The exhibition will run until May 5.
