This is a group of old photographs taken in Baoshan, Yunnan Province, in 1938. Baoshan, alias Lancheng and Yongchang, is located in southwestern Yunnan. Baoshan has a long history, and in the twelfth year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (69 AD), Yongchang County was set up, taking the meaning of "eternal longevity, prosperity and prosperity". There is Taibao Mountain in baoshan, formerly known as Songshan. In the third year of Ming Jiajing (1524), when Yongchang was reorganized into a county, because its name was the same as that of Yongchang in Gansu, the "Baoshan" in the Taibao Mountains in the city was borrowed as the name of the county. The name "Baoshan" began at this time. Let's turn the hour hand back to 1938 and take a look at what Baoshan looked like at that time.

The "Jingtai Yunnan Chronicle" records that in the twenty-eighth year of Hongwu (1395), when Yongchang commanded Hu Yuan to lead the Yongchang army to expand the Yongchang Brick City, he imitated the style of Jinling City Bao Zhongshan and surrounded the Taibao Mountain in the west of the city within the city wall, so that the original sub-city of Yongchang City and the mother city were merged into one, and a total of eight gates were opened in the city.
