The "rong" scholarship is an open scholarship dedicated to encouraging students of Tsinghua University's Big Data Master's Program and Capability Enhancement Program to cross-study in order to cultivate big data leaders with truly interdisciplinary capabilities and popular with enterprises and society. The evaluation of the scholarship is mainly based on the results of big data courses, thesis submissions, related competitions, practical activities and innovation and entrepreneurship experience, and other aspects to comprehensively evaluate the improvement of students' abilities after participating in the big data ability improvement project of Tsinghua University. The Data Institute hopes to encourage interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary integrated learning through scholarships to bring about changes in their way of thinking and technology application.

Fan Hang of the Department of Electrical Engineering has published 7 papers in well-known journals such as ei and sci, and applied for 4 patents, but when looking back on the initial contact with the project course, because what has been studied is the content of traditional engineering, the course "Big Data Systems and Foundations" did not achieve the desired results at first. However, with the help of the lecturer and classmates, he gradually adapted to the progress of the course and was able to apply what he learned, and when talking about the help of the project course to his professional scientific research, he said: "The recent article I published in "Power System Automation" contained algorithms from the "Deep Learning" course content of Long Mingsheng of the School of Software, at that time, I discussed with the teaching assistant many times for several technical issues, and finally the algorithm achieved good results."

In addition to scientific research, in order to further prove his ability, Fan hang also actively participated in various data science competitions organized by the Data Institute, such as the "Chengdu 80" International Financial Technology Competition, Tsinghua-unsw China-Australia Data Competition, etc., and completed the development of a pipo system with group members within 80 hours that can price individuals and trade like stocks, and won the "Best Academic Award". As the president of the association, he also actively participated in the work of the Tsinghua University Student Big Data Research Association, and was influenced by the "Big Data Governance and Policy" course to prepare a lecture on computing social sciences, which received 510,000 online live broadcast attention.

When completing the first big assignment, she quickly encountered difficult problems, but she repeatedly studied theoretical knowledge, and after 6 hours of unremitting efforts, the data processing program she wrote could finally run, and a sense of accomplishment suddenly appeared. In the practice session, she and the group members did the "Big Data-Driven Beijing Wage and Housing Price Analysis", "I was impressed by the practice project, not only exercised my data analysis ability, but also used the skills I learned to solve practical problems and analyze the relationship between house prices and wages".

When it comes to employment, she emphasizes that the big data capability improvement project certificate made her resume stand out from the competition, and finally helped her get a position in the data algorithm research post, "Thanks to the help of the project course, I dug the first gold mine outside the textbook," she said with a smile.

Xu Hongzhi of the School of Social Sciences firmly believes that a solid professional knowledge foundation is the premise for further research work, and he has always been strict with himself in his studies, not only completing the courses in the training program with the second professional result, but also taking the big data ability improvement project, achieving good results in the two courses of "Government Big Data Application and Analysis" and "Big Data Practice Course", and serving as the course assistant of "Big Data Analysis A" for three consecutive semesters. The study of the course made him deeply feel that combining the thinking method of data science with the theoretical paradigm of social science is an important direction for the development of social science in the current era of big data.

Combined with the data analysis and processing methods learned in the course, he completed the final thesis of each course as much as possible according to the requirements of academic paper publication, and published in core journals such as Youth Studies, Society, and International Press. It can be said that the study of the project course has restarted his imagination for the research of this major, allowing him to think about the problems of this major from a multi-dimensional perspective, such as "why information itself can have great value", "what will be the labor relations in the digital era", and "what social risks will be brought about by the application of big data technology". In the summer practice, he participated in the social inequality project in the online fundraising platform of "Water Drop Fundraising", which provided a certain reference for the decision-making of the government and enterprises.
