The "Chen Shui-bian phenomenon" is officially over! The small "independence faction" and "unification faction" in Taiwan's political arena are in a dilemma

Macao's Xinhua Macao Bao today published an article on Fu Quan saying that the "One Country Action Party on one side" with Chen Shui-bian as its "spiritual leader" not only ran out of ink on the "regional legislators" in the current "legislative council" election, but also only received one-point-two percent of the political party votes, and none of the four "thresholds" of the political party votes have been crossed, which is equivalent to "non-existence.", which is too far from the goal of the "legislators" election with one million votes and three seats for the "legislators" and the establishment of the party group when it was founded five months ago. As a result, Chen Shui-bian announced his withdrawal from politics. Since this is the case, there is no need for the "One Country Action Party" to continue to exist, so it was officially dissolved on the 20th. This shows that the "Chen Shui-bian phenomenon" has officially ended.

"One country on one side" is Chen Shui-bian's political totem, which goes further than the "special two-state theory" that Tsai Ing-wen wrote for Lee Teng-hui. The "special two-state theory" at least recognizes the traditional framework of the "Republic of China," while "one country on one side" "regards the two sides of the strait as belonging to two different countries," and the "country" on the east bank of the Strait is named "Taiwan" instead of the "Republic of China" according to the "Constitution." This was proposed by Chen Shui-bian during a video conference with Kim Mei-ling, an old "Taiwan independence" in Japan, and has since become a egregious figure for Chen Shui-bian's view of the two sides of the strait.

In 2010, Chen Shui-bian's son, Chen Zhizhong, led the establishment of the "One Country Link on One Side", which was mainly composed of members of the "Justice Link" founded and led by Chen Shui-bian before the DPP made the decision to "dissolve the factions". Its political position is "one country on one side" and opposes "ecfa". Its members cover all kinds of public office candidates who are members of the Democratic Progressive Party and non-party candidates who are partially green, and its organization is led by Chen Qimai, executive committee member of the Democratic Progressive Party, with "legislator" Chen Tangshan as the general convener. Its members include Huang Weizhe, Xu Tiancai, Wu Qiming, Li Junjun, Chen Tingfei, Wang Dingyu and other important pan-green politicians in southern central Taiwan, except for the "new trend system". "Taiwan, China, "one country on one side" is the goal they all pursue. It once had seven "legislators" and thirty-one "municipality" city councilors. In the 2014 local elections, a total of 84 candidates for county and city councillors were elected, and 68 were elected, with an election rate of 81%. In the 2018 "nine-in-one" election, of the 103 candidates for county and city councillors recommended by "One Country On One Side", 64 were elected, with an election rate of 62.1%.

However, the DPP Central Committee Standing Committee once made a resolution prohibiting party city councilor candidates from participating in or organizing a cross-party election line, and violators were regarded as violators of discipline; DPP Chairman Tsai Ing-wen finally ruled at the Central Standing Committee that this is within the scope of application of party discipline, requiring the authority and responsible unit to issue a document to the nominee of the city councilor to pay attention to this matter and avoid misleading party discipline. On the same day, Chen Shui-bian said through Huang Qinglin, former dpp chairman of the Taipei City Party Department, that "if the DPP insists on banning it, it will not rule out the need to form a third political party and confront the DPP." Chen Zhizhong said that the INTERNAL norms of the DPP that have been practiced for many years are respected, but "one country on one side" is a combination of ideas and cannot be discussed in joint elections. As a result of this resolution, the members of the "one country on one side" were divided into DPP members and non-party members.

This may be one of the main motivations for "flat" figures to organize separate political parties. In 2015, the One Country Action Alliance was established, the predecessor of the One Country Action Party. On August 18, 2019, the new political party , the One Country Action Party ( ONE COUNTRY ACTION Party " ) , led by Chen Zhaozi, spokesperson of Chen Shui-bian's medical group at the time, was officially announced. Its founders also included Guo Changfeng, Guo Zhengdian, Yang Qiwen and other "pro-independence" figures, with Chen Shui-bian as the spiritual leader. Its political slogan is "to promote Taiwan to become a modern, sovereign and independent State and to apply to join the United Nations as a member state." Its main members are members of the "Taiwan Independence Movement", "The 908 Taiwan National Movement", "The Federation of Flat Bulls", "One Country Action Alliance on one side", and other members of the "Taiwan independence" movement, and You Xikun is the top adviser.

On September 8, 2019, Chen Shui-bian attended the 13th anniversary of the "908 Taiwan National Movement" and delivered a speech on stage, calling on supporters to go all out to canvass votes for the "One Country Action Party", to achieve a target of 1 million votes and three seats for the "Legislature" election in 2020, and to establish a party group to promote the policy.

The article said that Luo Wenjia, secretary general of the Democratic Progressive Party, openly called on voters to concentrate their votes on the "legislators" election to the DPP and let the DPP win more than half of the seats in the "Legislative Yuan.", and also said that the votes of political parties to small parties "did not receive more than five percent of the votes in the end, which is a waste," causing controversy. Chen Shui-bian posted on Facebook that Luo Wenjia not only grossly gaffed his words, "looking down on the small party representing a small number of voices, but even more arrogant and arrogant to the extreme"; he appealed to voters, in order not to disappoint Luo Wenjia, please vote for the "One Country Action Party on one side", "at least more than five percent, then the vote will not be wasted."

Subsequently, Yang Qiwen, convener of the "One Country Action Party on one side," and Chen Zhaozi, spokesman, went to Chen Shui-bian's "Humanistic First Seal" residence in Kaohsiung and invited Chen Shui-bian to become the party's "non-divisional" legislator and ranked first, and Chen Shui-bian also signed a letter of consent. The "One Country Action Party" party department immediately shared the video of Chen Shui-bian's consent form to the media through the line group. However, when examining the list of candidates for "non-divisional legislators" submitted by the "Central Election Committee," the "Central Election Committee" pointed out that Chen Shui-bian's conviction for embezzlement did not meet the candidate's qualifications, so Chen Shui-bian had no choice but to withdraw from the list of non-divisional "legislators" of the "One Country Action Party."

This incident further strengthened Chen Shui-bian's determination to "work hard to become stronger," advocating that the "One Country Action Party on one side" must win three seats as "non-divisional legislators, in order to organize a party group in the "Legislative Yuan" to exert pressure on Tsai Ing-wen, whom she described as a "hall of words," and announcing "amnesty for Chen Shui-bian" as soon as possible. In fact, one of the goals of the "pro-independence faction" group that has been advocating "amnesty for Chen Shui-bian" in setting up the "One Country Action Party on One Side" is to promote "amnesty for Chen Shui-bian." Chen Shui-bian himself also hopes to establish a party group under the "One Country Action Party on one side", and he participates in the activities of the party group office, which can continue his political life, and can also exert pressure on Tsai Ing-wen to "pardon Chen Shui-bian". Therefore, after the establishment of the "One Country Action Party on One Side," Chen Shui-bian was very active and had the appearance of wanting Tsai Ing-wen to "walk and see."

However, the results of the January 11 election were much more unexpected than Chen Shui-bian's, and the party votes of the "One Country Action Party on one side" did not receive one million votes, only 143,617 votes, or 1.04 percent of the votes; while the regional "legislator" candidates received even more ugly votes, with only 20,134 votes, with a vote rate of 0.14. In other words, the "One Country Action Party" not only failed to obtain the seats allocated to the "non-divisional legislators", but also could not even get the party election subsidy, but instead owed more than 5.5 million yuan in debt.

Chen Shui-bian, of course, was greatly disappointed, and the next day pointed out through a Facebook statement, "I couldn't sleep all night, I reflected on myself, and I felt that I was no longer able to contribute to the party and Taiwan." Chen Shui-bian announced that he would withdraw from politics from now on! Thanks! Bye! Immediately afterward, Chen Zhaozi and Guo Changfeng (Chen Zhaozi's husband), volunteer leader of the "One Country Action Party on one side" also issued a joint statement, announcing that they would follow Chen Shui-bian and withdraw from party activities and quit the "One Country Action Party on one side." In this case, there was no longer any need for one country action party to survive, so the central working group meeting of the "one country action party" held on January 19 resolved to dissolve.

It is reported that the "Joy Island Alliance", which is highly homogeneous to the "One Country Action Party on one side", also has the possibility of dissolution because in the "legislator" election, the "regional legislator" candidates received more than 9,200 votes, with a 0.06 percent vote, and the "non-divisional legislature" political party vote was only 293.24 million votes, with a vote rate of 0.2 percent, which is even more unbearable than the "One Country Action Party".

This shows the difficulties of surviving small political parties. This is not only true for "independence" political parties, but also for "reunification" political parties; the new party, which was once in the limelight, could still receive a political party election subsidy last time, but this time it only had 147,373 votes, with a vote rate of 1.04 percent; the actual performance of the China Unification Promotion Party and the Workers' Party was even worse than that of the new party, and even the political party election subsidy could not be received, and the political party operation funds were difficult. Therefore, there were proposals within the New Party for "dissolution".

However, what is strange is that on the 20th, the Ninth "Legislative Yuan" held its last "court meeting," and one of the topics was to vote on a resolution put forward by the "Forces of the Times, calling on the "government" to dissolve the China Unification Promotion Party in accordance with the "Constitution." However, among the seventy-five "legislators" who participated in the voting, all the "legislators" of the Democratic Progressive Party voted against it, but four KUOMINTANG "legislators" and three "times forces" and "legislators" voted in favor of it. It seems that even the DPP is unwilling to dissolve the "reunification" political party.
