On the afternoon of September 28, the Baoli Police Station of the Public Security Bureau of Yongfu County, Guangxi Province, received a special alarm call. It turned out that nearby residents anxiously described to the police on the phone: A big snake ran into my home, or a poisonous kind, too terrible! After the police arrived at the scene with tools, the scene seemed to be even more frightening: the big snake had hidden in the gap between the washing machine wash barrel and the casing, and seemed to be "stuck"!
What to do? According to the shape of the snake's head and the pattern on the snake, the police judge that this is not an ordinary poisonous snake, and it is very likely that it is a national protected animal - a cobra, which needs to be "caught alive" as much as possible. After obtaining the consent of the residents, the police decided to open the washing machine to "catch the snake". The police used tools to remove the cover on the front and upper sides of the washing machine, and after tossing for 10 minutes, the poisonous snake was completely exposed to the sight of the police.
The poisonous snake seemed to be aware, while twisting its neck and tilting its head to look at the police, while spitting out a letter and making a "clanging" sound, several people around saw "scalp tingling". The well-informed and experienced police can ignore the poisonous snake set, use pliers and wooden sticks to hold down the poisonous snake, and after the uniform is there, use a wooden stick to pick it up and stuff it into the woven bag.
Sure enough, it was confirmed by professionals to be a cobra, about 1 meter long, with black and white markings all over its body. There are more than 20 kinds of cobras, mainly distributed in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, Indonesia and other places, and a small number of them inhabit the south of China. Cobras in our country are not only protected animals, but also three animals, so this cobra or put back into the woodland, or sent to the zoo.
So the question is, what to do when encountering a poisonous snake, and what kind of first aid measures should be taken after being bitten by a poisonous snake? Will it really take revenge?
According to the data, hundreds of thousands of people around the world are bitten or lost their lives by venomous snakes every year, or are disabled as a result, and the number of people bitten by venomous snakes in China every year is not less than 200,000 people, some of which are killed in the mouth of cobras. The cobra's greatest strength is its snake venom.
Snake venom can be roughly divided into three categories, namely blood toxins, mixed toxins, and neurotoxins. Blood toxins are usually transmitted by blood, starting with wounds and spreading throughout the body, often leading to chills, rapid heartbeat, mania, and oliguria. Neurotoxin, as the name suggests, snake venom mainly acts on the nerves and central system of the prey, and the common symptoms are pain, blurred vision, difficulty breathing, and unclear language. The snake venom of cobras is a mixture of toxins, which have the characteristics of both neurotoxins and blood toxins, so they are more destructive to prey than other venomous snakes.
The snake venom of cobras is characterized by strong destructive power and rapid venom. When a cobra bites its prey, venom is injected into the wound through its venom teeth and circulates throughout the body with the blood at the wound, and symptoms such as dizziness and vomiting occur in a short time. For example, the king cobra, the handle of a cobra, can inject 400-600 mg of venom into the prey at a time, and can poison an adult Asian elephant in 3 hours. If the person is bitten, you will be dizzy, headache or unconscious due to a collapse of the cardiovascular system for 2-3 minutes.
Once bitten by a cobra or other venomous snake, there are several things you can do. First press the blood vessels near the wound to avoid the spread of venom, in an emergency, you can let a friend suck out the venom with his mouth, except for the wound inside the mouth; then tie the injured limb with a rope, generally 5 cm above the wound, and send it every 30 minutes; then rinse the wound with hydrogen peroxide (3%), potassium permanganate (0.05%), or soapy water or salt water.
When conditions are limited, it can also be rinsed with clean water, and then rushed to the hospital, of course, the above cleaning work can also be carried out on the way to the hospital. It should be noted that after being bitten, take pictures of venomous snakes as much as possible and contact the hospital in advance to determine the appropriate serum.
There is a saying on the Internet that poisonous snakes will take revenge, but in fact, this understanding is not scientific. During estrus, snakes secrete a fluid that attracts the opposite sex called pheromones, which is volatile and has a special odor. When a snake attacks its prey, pheromones are contaminated with their prey. When the snake once again approaches the prey that has been fiercely fought, it is easy to recognize and react through the sensitive sense of smell, which has nothing to do with revenge.
In addition, the snake is a relatively low-level organism, the brain is not very developed, many actions are only controlled by local nerves, often make conditional emission, snake suspended animation is a manifestation of conditional emission. Because of the low level of the brain, the snake does not know what "revenge" is.
