Electric car owners pay attention! This should be done on rainy days

Have you ever waded into a water-driven electric car?

Go get a "check-up" on your electric car battery

Because the battery soaks in water

The hidden dangers are endless

Every summer and autumn, most parts of the country are rainy weather, and heavy rains occur frequently everywhere.

Electric bicycles wading in the water, and even the entire battery is still driving when it is submerged in water.

Although the battery can still ride after wading, most consumers do not realize that the wading battery has buried a safety hazard. In particular, the lithium battery water is very likely to cause spontaneous combustion accidents in the later use process.

According to the National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products:

There are quite a few e-bikes out there

The structural design of its battery

Cannot be prevented

External water enters the inside of the battery

When rainwater invades the inside of the battery, it will cause corrosion of internal electronic components, the local internal resistance will become larger, and the heat will increase, affecting the service life of the battery.

In severe cases, rainwater will gradually corrode the charged protective plate, causing the protective plate to short circuit and losing the protective effect on the battery cell, thus causing a fire accident.

At the same time, rainwater will also corrode the battery cell, the battery cell electrolysis phenomenon, so that the battery shell corrosion leakage, the leakage of electrolyte will further corrode the protection plate or circuit, resulting in failure or fire accidents.

To this end, experts recommend:

When the lithium battery of the electric bicycle is soaked in water, the consumer should go to the professional maintenance point in time to check whether the protective plate and battery cell of the lithium battery are immersed in water;

If water immersion occurs, it should be repaired in time to avoid safety accidents in subsequent use.

At the same time, combined with the local weather or their own use scenarios, such as often encounter rain or wading conditions, it is best to choose a lithium battery that is water-resistant (ipx7 - waterproof level or above).

Experts also remind consumers of electric vehicles that after encountering floods, especially after the electric vehicle is soaked in water, they should go to the 4s store in time to check, and if there is a phenomenon of battery water ingress, it should be dealt with in time to avoid safety accidents.
