After the defeat of the Chinese Expeditionary Force in Burma, the 200th Division, under the cover of Liao Yaoxiang's new 22nd Division, gradually withdrew north, crossing the primeval jungle of the deserted Savage Mountains in northern Burma and retreating to the country. On the way back, the 200th Division had been fighting with the pursuing small group of Japanese troops, and was blocked by a Japanese force that surpassed the 200th Division near the cell, and Dai Anlan ordered the troops to take cover while crossing the road and forcibly breaking through. During the battle, Dai Anlan was wounded.
Because the 200th Division at this time had suffered heavy casualties, the rest were all defeated soldiers, weapons, ammunition and food and medicine were very scarce, although Dai Anlan's wounds were not serious, but because they could not be treated in time, the wounds gradually became infected with suppuration, and eventually died. After knowing that his time was short, Dai Anlan designated the command of the troops, and Zheng Tingji, the commander of the infantry of the division at the time, took charge of the remaining troops back to China, and asked other cadres to obey Zheng Tingdi's command.
At the beginning of the Outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the establishment of the Nationalist army was still a sequence of divisions, brigades, regiments, battalions, and companies, but after gradual reorganization, the brigade level was gradually abolished, and the remaining cadres were appointed to various deputy posts, and some newly established posts, such as infantry commanders, were established at the time of reorganization, which were lower than the cadres at the division level, but higher than the cadres at the regimental level. However, in actual combat, it often undertakes more important command tasks.
Zheng Tingji was a fifth-term student of the Whampoa Military Academy, who had been attached to the regiment of the lieutenant colonel in 1933, but did not serve as the commander of the honorary first division and the third regiment until 1939. Dai Anlan was born in the Third Phase of Huangpu, and when the Anti-Japanese War broke out, he served as the brigade commander of the 73rd Brigade of the 25th Division of Guan Linzheng, who was born in the first phase of Huangpu, and Dai Anlan performed well in the Battle of Taierzhuang, won the Baoding Medal, and was promoted to deputy commander of the 89th Division of the basic unit started by Tang Enbo after the war, and was deeply valued by Tang Enbo.
It was precisely because Dai Anlan was relatively capable, so not only guan Linzheng valued him very much, But Tang Enbo also always co-opted him, but when Du Yuming was ordered to form the mechanical corps into the only mechanized division of the nationalist army at that time, he still recruited Dai Anlan to his command. Later, based on the 200th Division, it was transferred to the newly organized 22nd Division and the 96th Division to form the Fifth Army, With Du Yuming promoted to commander, Dai Anlan naturally serving as the commander of the 200th Division, and Zheng Tingji serving as the infantry commander of the 200th Division.
Near the China-Myanmar border, Dai Anlan died. However, when the main cadres held a meeting, they did not put Zheng Tingji in charge of command in accordance with Dai Anlan's will, but instead elected the deputy division commander Gao Jiren to be in charge of command, and Zheng Tingji took the lead in expressing his support for Gao Jiren. This is not only because Zheng Tingji knows that the Gaoji people from the Huangpu IV period are far more senior than him, but also because the Gaoji people are actually Du Yuming's compatriots, and they are generals that Du Yuming trusts very much, and he cannot make a fuss.
Gao Ji, like Dai Anlan, had earlier served as a lieutenant colonel in Guan Linzheng's 25th Division, and in the 73rd Brigade, of which Dai Anlan was the brigade commander, but soon after, he was drawn into the Armored Corps as a battalion commander in the Armored Corps, and then as a regimental commander, and after Dai Anlan succeeded him as the commander of the 200th Division, he served as the deputy division commander, and after Dai Anlan's death, he succeeded him as the commander of the division and led the rest of the 200 division back to China, serving as the deputy commander of the Fifth Army at the end of the War of Resistance, and then promoted to the commander of the 70th Army.
Speaking of which, this Gaoji person was ordered in addition to this time, and there was another time after that. In the Battle of Huaihai, after Qiu Qingquan's corps was surrounded, Qiu Qingquan was very pessimistic about the prospects and would die, so he said to the chief of staff Li Hanping, If I die, you will break through with the rest of the troops. Li Hanping said, I am a major general with shallow seniority, how can I take over your command? Qiu Qingquan thought about it for a moment before he changed the order of succession after his death, with Gao Jiren ranking first, followed by Xiong Xiaosan, commander of the Fifth Army.
However, after the People's Liberation Army launched a general offensive, Qiu Qingquan directly called the commanders and said that he had given up command and that the commanders of the various divisions could move freely. Xiong Xiaosan, the commander of the Fifth Army whom he trusted most, did not wait for the last moment to arrive, so he fled first, and he had to temporarily promote Guo Jiqian, the commander of the 45th Division, to the commander of the Fifth Army, Gao Jiren was also wounded, and Deng Junlin, the commander of the 96th Division, was temporarily appointed by Qiu Qingquan as the commander of the 70th Army. In the end, the Gaoji were also captured, but they fled again and later went to Taiwan.
