Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey

A natural legend – the Primate family

A remote part of southwestern China, part of the eastern himalayas, is inaccessible, where stories about mysterious elves have been circulating for centuries. These black golden snub-nosed monkeys may be the root of these legends – the Yunnan Golden Snub-nosed Monkey, a species that lives on a high mountain at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level, and no primate can live higher than here except for very few humans.

At present, there are 5 species of golden snub-nosed monkeys on the earth, and there are 4 species in China, sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys, Qianjin snub-nosed monkeys, Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkeys, and Nujiang golden snub-nosed monkeys. Among them, the Area where the Yunnan Golden Snub-nosed Monkey lives is the highest, and they need to find their own unique way to adapt to this alpine living environment.

Lion-tailed baboon

The lion-tailed baboon is the only primate that feeds on grass and grass seeds, and its massive community can have up to 1200 members, scattered among the grassy patches of the slopes, like twinkling stars. Male lion-tailed baboons are imposing, with gorgeous golden hair, dark red breast spots, and the largest teeth in the primate family, which are usually only visible in the mouths of large carnivores.

A natural legend – the Primate family

Single male lion-tailed baboons will harass and challenge male lion-tailed baboon leaders in small families in an attempt to gain control of the female lion-tailed baboons in small families. At this point, the male lion-tailed baboon leader would curl his upper lip to show off his amazing fangs as a way to intimidate the challengers. With huge canine teeth, it is only to intimidate opponents, so that lions and tigers have nothing to say.

A natural legend – the Primate family

In the city of Lopfuli, Thailand, huge Hanuman sculptures are everywhere paying homage to the two thousand monkeys here. The monkeys that live here are regarded as descendants of Hanuman and are loved by the people. Monkey herds play a dual role in the temple as both religious worship and tourist landscape, attracting tourists from all over the world. On special days, local volunteers load various fruits on carts and transport them from different directions to temple squares to feast on the monkeys and take pictures of them.
