Former Yan's most powerful emperor, Murong Juan, why did he expose the corpse of the tyrant Shi Hu?
Text/Lao Zhang is on the road
Murong Juan's grandfather Murong Yu often said before his death: "I have accumulated merit and benevolence, and my descendants should have the Central Plains." Since then, entering the Central Plains has become the dream of three generations of Murong Clan's grandchildren.
In the second year (319) of Sima Rui Daxing of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Murong Juan was born, and Murong Yu said to others: "This little child is different from ordinary people, and there are successors to my family's business. ”
In the seventh year of Sima Yanxiankang's reign (341), the Eastern Jin Dynasty made Murong Juan's father Murong Juan the Prince of Yan, with Murong Juan as the False Festival, the General of Anbei, the Lieutenant of Dongyi, the Prince of Zuoxian, and the Prince of Yan.
Murong Juan (慕容儁) (319 – February 23, 360), courtesy name Xuanying, courtesy name Xuanying, was the second son of The Former Yan Emperor Murong Huan and the second emperor of Former Yan during the Sixteen Kingdoms period.
In the fourth year of Sima Yonghe's reign (348), Murong Hao died, and Murong Juan succeeded him to the throne as King of Yan.
In the first month of the fifth year of Yonghe (349), Murong Juan changed his name to Yuan Nian according to the custom and imposed a general amnesty in his territory. In April, the Later Zhao emperor Shi Hu died, Shi Hu's sons began to compete for the throne, and after the great internal turmoil in Later Zhao, Murong Juan plotted to seize the central plains, so Murong Ke was made an auxiliary general, Murong Jue was rated as an auxiliary general, Yang Yuan was made an auxiliary general, and Murong Chui was made a forward governor and a jianfeng general, and more than 200,000 elite soldiers were selected to wait for the opportunity.
Later Zhao Shihu was a well-known desolate prince in history, he was cruel and murderous, and when he was a general, he liked to slaughter the city, and few of the cities he attacked were left alive. "As for descending the city and trapping the fortress, do not break away from good and evil, pit and behead soldiers and women, and there are few relics." After becoming emperor, cruel and murderous deeds abounded.
Shi Hu plagued the north for 15 years, and finally died of illness in 349 AD, and it was not long before Jiangshan was taken by his adoptive grandson Shi Min (i.e., Ran Min).
In the same year, Emperor Mu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty appointed Murong Juan as an envoy, a servant, a governor of Dadu, a military governor of Hebei, a governor of Youji and Pingsi Prefecture, a general, a great general, a danyu, and a king of Yan, and to appoint officials according to the precedent of Murong Yu and Murong Hao, and formally inherited the administration of Liaodong under the orders of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
In the sixth year of Yonghe (350), the Later Zhao general Ran Min was proclaimed emperor at Yicheng, with the state name of Great Wei and ran Wei in history. Murong Juan took the opportunity to attack south in three ways, and personally led the Chinese army to LuLong, captured Jicheng, and moved the capital to Jicheng.
When Murong Juan ascended the throne, he was still nominally the King of Yan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and it was not until the eighth year of Yonghe (352) that he officially declared himself an independent emperor and changed his era name to "Yuan Xi".
In the eighth year of Yonghe (352), Murong Juan sent Murong Ke and Xiang guofeng yi to Anxi to attack Ran Min.
Ran Min is a hero who has always enjoyed prestige, and everyone is afraid of him. Murong Ke said to the generals, "Ran Min's army has been away for a long time, and the soldiers are tired and tired, and it is really difficult to use them in battle; in addition, he has courage and strategy, only the courage of a puppet." Although they have elite soldiers, they are not worth a blow. We now divide the troops into three parts, forming horns to wait for the fighters. Ran Min has a light and elite army, and he understands that the strength of our army cannot compete with him, and he will certainly do his best to attack our Chinese army. We are now dressed in bell armor and reinforced the army and wait for them to arrive, and the princes only need to clean up and motivate the soldiers, waiting for them to engage our Chinese army, to attack them, and to be invincible. ”
Ran Min fought against Murong Xianbei's more than 100,000 cavalrymen with 10,000 men, and was defeated in the Ten Great Battles and the Ten Battles of Xianbei. In the end, Xianbei formed a formation with Wu Qian's elite cavalry in chains to resist Ran Min's fierce attack. Ran Min killed three hundred Xianbei cavalry in a row, because of the disparity between the crowds, Ran Min wielded a two-edged spear to kill the siege and break through, but unexpectedly the war horse suddenly fell to the ground, and Ran Min was captured.
This method of warfare, which connects warhorses with iron chains, is the so-called iron floating chart. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the Jin army was used and powerful when it invaded the south, and then it was defeated by Yue Fei.
Ran Min was escorted to murong juan, the lord of the Xianbei state, and Murong Juan scolded Ran Min: You are just a slave, how dare you claim the title of emperor? Ran Min angrily rebuked: At the time of chaos in the world, you Yidi Hufu, the human-faced beast-hearted things, still raise troops to rebel and rebel. I am a contemporary hero of the Central Plains, why can't I be an emperor!
Murong Juan was speechless. He ordered Ran Min to be whipped three hundred and beheaded at Mount Shu.
The history books say that after Ran Min was killed, all the grass and trees in the left and right seven miles of the Qixing Mountain died, and the locusts rose up, and it did not rain for five months until December. Murong Juan was horrified and sent emissaries to sacrifice Ran Min and posthumously honor Ran Min as the Heavenly King of Wu.
Murong Juan unified the Hebei region after eliminating Ran Min.
At the beginning of Murong Juan's claim to the throne, he did not intend to take revenge on Shi Hu until a few years later, when he had a nightmare. According to historical records, in the third year of Former Yan Shengping (359), Murong Juan had a very terrible dream, dreaming that Shi Hu turned into a fierce tiger and bit Murong Juan's arm. After Murong Juan woke up, he still felt a faint pain in his arm and was extremely angry in his heart, so he ordered the search for Shi Hu's body, and after the search was fruitless, he ordered a reward of hundreds of gold to seek clues from the people.
Soon, a woman from Yecheng, Li Suo, came to inform her, pointing out the place where Shi Hu's mausoleum was located, and Li Suo's identity was Shi Hu's concubine, who took refuge in the people due to war. After Murong Juan found Shi Hu's mausoleum, he ordered the grave to be excavated and exposed, and after counting his brutal crimes, he whipped hundreds of corpses and then threw them into the Zhanghe River. What is unbelievable is that Shi Hu's body was blocked by a bridge pillar in the Zhanghe River, and was not swept away by the water, but stayed in the area for 11 years.
In 370, when the Former Qin army destroyed Former Yan, Emperor Zhijian entered Yecheng, and after learning of Shi Hu's encounter, he ordered the solemn burial of Shi Hu's body and the execution of Li Ju, who was still alive, because he was grateful for his kindness to Pu Hong (苻健's grandfather, whose surname was later changed to 苻). This is all an afterthought.
In the third year of Shengping (359), Murong Juan plotted to attack the Eastern Jin Dynasty again, and attempted to destroy Former Qin. Murong Juan ordered all the prefectures and counties to count and inspect the existing soldiers, check and verify the household registration, and leave only one adult in each household, and all the others were conscripted into the army, hoping to bring up 1.5 million infantry, hoping to meet all the troops the next year and prepare to march on Luoyang.
Liu Gui, a native of Wuyi, wrote a letter of strong advice, saying that Chen said that the people were living in poverty, that it was not in accordance with the law to summon troops, that the people would be overwhelmed and that there would be a catastrophe like a collapse, and that thirteen political affairs that were not suitable for the situation at that time were stated. After reading the letter, Tomb Rongjun agreed with Liu Yi's opinion, and handed it over to the secretary of state for extensive consultation, and most of what Liu Gui said was adopted, so he changed it to the five-ding-three system, relaxed the one-week war preparation time, and ordered them all to rush to The capital of Yidu at the end of the following winter.
At this moment, Murong Juan was seriously ill, and he said to his younger brother Murong Ke, "I am very sick and weak, I am afraid that I will not be able to do it." The length of life is predestined, and what regrets are there! It's just that the two enemies have not yet been destroyed, and Murong Wei is young, and I am worried that he will not be able to bear too much suffering. I want to follow in song Xuangong's footsteps and hand over the country to you. ”
Murong Ke said: "Although the crown prince is young, he is intelligent by nature, and he will certainly be able to curb the murderous enemy, so that the world can be stabilized and the criminal law cannot be used, and the orthodoxy cannot be messed with." ”
Murong Juan said, "Where do you need to speak kindly between brothers!" ”
Murong Ke said, "If Your Majesty thinks that I can shoulder the heavy responsibilities of the world, how can I not assist the Young Lord?" ”
Murong Juan said, "If you assist the government like The Duke of Zhou, what else am I worried about?" Li Jiqing is honest and honest, loyal and frank, can do great things, you must treat him kindly. ”
In the third year of Shengping (359), the ill Murong Juan entertained his courtiers at Puchi, and he burst into tears and said, "A talented son is rare. Since Murong Ye's death, my sideburns have been half white. What do you mean by Murong Ye? ”
Situ Zuo Changshi Li Ji replied, "When Murong Ye, the crown prince, was in the Eastern Palace, I was the middle son, the prince's ambitions, how dare I say it clearly!" The prince's great virtue is manifested in eight aspects: first, filial piety; second, wisdom and sensitivity; third, composure and perseverance; fourth, hatred of the amorant and like to be upright; fifth, eagerness to learn; sixth, versatility; seventh, humility; and eighth, like to give favor to others. ”
Murong Juan said, "Although your praise is a little excessive, if I am alive here, I will die without worry." How about Murong Wei? ”
At that time, Murong Wei was accompanying him, and Li Ji said: "The crown prince is talented and intelligent, although he already has a reputation for the eight virtues, but there are still two shortcomings that have not been made up, like to play, hunt and silk bamboo instrumental music, which is why he is inferior." ”
Murong Juan looked at Murong Wei and said, "Li Ji's words are a bitter medicine, and you should take them as a warning." ”
On the twentieth day of the first month of the fourth year of Shengping (360), murong Juan's illness worsened after a major review of the army at Yicheng, and he summoned Murong Ke, Yang Que, Situ Murong Ping, and the leading general Mu Yougen to accept the edict to assist the imperial government.
On the 21st day of the first month, Murong Juan died at the age of 42, reigning for 11 years, with the title of Emperor Jingzhao and the title of Emperor Liezu.
