At the launch ceremony of the new book on March 18, Lu Yu and her friends, the host Yang Lan, the actor Ke Lan, and the teacher and debater Chen Ming of Wuhan University, met at pageone Beijing Fang Bookstore. Several people with experience and stories shared with readers many wonderful topics in the book, about self-discipline, about age anxiety, about friendship, about love, about believing... They told a lot of their own personal experiences, and the scene was cordial and warm, and the golden sentences were repeated.

At the beginning of the event, Lu Yu shared her thoughts during the epidemic and her opportunity to write the book "Still Believe". "Still want to believe" originated from an audio program called "Encounter Lu Xiaochu", in which Lu Yu received many young people's questions. Can I live alone? How do people with social phobia socialize? Two careers, like and good at, which to choose? How do women face the anxiety of age? Can't afford to get married by parents, do you want to marry someone you don't love for stability? From social and workplace to emotions, values, and choices, it is not only confusing you and me, but also touching the problems of the times.

In the face of questions, Lu Yu took the initiative to share his growth story and life experience from the perspective of an ordinary person; frankly told the moments of dazed entanglement like everyone else, the tenacity and exploration behind the success. In the many question responses, she selected the most representative 55 cases, repeatedly revised, polished, and integrated into this book "Still believe". There is no big truth in the book, it is all some small stories worth playing. She wants to use sincere and sober words to give readers the companionship of a girlfriend. She said that in the question and answer with the questioner, not only did she open herself more and more, but also released herself more and more, becoming brave and spontaneous, and getting more and more strength to move forward.

The English title of the new book cover, "When in doubt, don't", sparked a lot of curiosity, and Lu Yu responded that the sentence came from the BBC documentary "Impression of the Lady", which talked about "what I want to say to my young self", and Maggie Smith, a British national treasure actress in her eighties, replied: "When in doubt, don't." Lu Yu was deeply moved by this sentence: "I have spent more than twenty years looking back at myself when I was young, and I will feel that when you doubt, you should not doubt." ”

Several guests also talked about the feeling of reading the book. Ms. Yang said she was particularly happy to be here to "talk to young friends."

Lu Yu, Yang Lan, and Ke Lan have known each other for twenty or thirty years. All three women are sisters who ride the wind and waves, and all have made outstanding achievements in their fields.

At the launch ceremony, they also talked about the beautiful details of life. For example, Lu Yu's safe attitude towards life during the epidemic - reading, thinking, watching old movies; Yang Lan's daughter stayed up late to secretly make a birthday cake for her mother, which made Yang Lan moved to tears; Ke Lan was impressed by Lu Yu's insistence on being thin, and Lu Yu threw out a very funny experience not long ago: Once in the bookstore, someone almost talked next to her that she only ate three grains of rice a day, and she almost "exposed" herself in front of her by swiping her credit card. She said that the rumors of no more than double digits of rice grains on the rivers and lakes were "harmed" by these friends such as Ke Lan and Wen Tao. Obviously, this is impossible. "If that's the case, it would be nice to find a day every year to eat all the rice for a year, but what is the hard work of each meal of rice grains?" Her witty response made the stage and offstage unconscious.

Yang Lan said that reading and writing are things that quiet themselves down, and everyone needs to find such a thing, like anchor, so that the ship has a place to dock. "Life is full of possibilities, and sometimes we unconsciously close our possible windows one by one. I think to believe that you can push it away. Lu Yu said that this is also the original intention of writing the book "Still Believe". "I insist on believing, insisting on love, insisting on believing in love, this is the courage and fulcrum of my life."

Interview with Lu Yu: 50-year-old Frank

"No matter what life does to you, you still have to believe what you first believed in your heart." Lu Yu said. When "Still Want to Believe" was published, Chen Luyu accepted an interview with a reporter from Beiqing Daily.

Beiqing Daily: The English name of this book "Or Believe It" is when in doubt, don't. Why is it such a name?

Chen Luyu: This book is more from the confusion of young readers in this era. Before the epidemic, we opened an audio column called "Encounter Lu Xiaochu" on the public account, and collected some questions from readers and listeners every week, and I answered them. Our audience readers are mostly women from college to their thirties and forties, and the vast majority of questions are emotional and confused about the future. I write one a week, and then I publish a book like this. In the face of many of their confusions, I often think of the BBC documentary "Impressions of the Lady", where Maggie Smith, an eighty-year-old British national treasure actress, replied: "When in doubt, don't."" When you have doubts, don't doubt them. This sentence particularly touched me. I was like this when I was a kid, with a lot of doubts and uncertainties, and I wanted to tell myself that year – you don't have to be afraid.

Beiqing Daily: For you, what are the things that you doubted back then and are now convinced of?

Lu Yu: Someone asked me today, if you could say a word to your 20-year-old self, what would you say? I would say, "I think you're pretty cute, you don't have to worry about round faces." "I know it's a small, inconspicuous thing, but I think it's a problem with appearance that every girl has growing up with. However, if you look back at the previous photos now, you will find it cute. So the same reasoning can be proved, I think in another 20 years, looking back at today's self, I will feel very good.

Beiqing Daily: "Lu Yu has an appointment" has been running for more than ten years now, you have interviewed nearly 10,000 people, so far, do you still want to interview but have not collected interviewees? If you asked him, what would you want to ask?

Lu Yu: I really admire legendary women and am very curious about them, but many people don't have the opportunity or can't get interviews. I always wondered what I would ask if I could interview Diana? I also particularly like Sanmao and Zhang Ailing, including Momoe Yamaguchi. If given the chance, one of the questions I'd love to ask is do you ever regret it? In particular, whether they have regretted it after making particularly critical decisions in their lives.

In the new book "Or Do You Want to Believe", Chen Luyu details the past: Who said that I only eat three grains of rice a day?

Beiqing Daily: You are very frank in the book, you were 50 years old when the book was published. In the letter to the reader, your sincere attitude makes people feel that you are calm in the face of age. Is it stressful for you to publish your age? How do you personally view age anxiety?

Lu Yu: I will not have pressure. If you want to know your age, you can actually search for it all. The reason why I write about this is because I wrote the story of the forty-year-old in that article, and I feel compelled to explain that I was indeed fifty years old when the book was published.

I remember writing that article, my team was planning a show called "20, 30, 40." Then I kept teasing them, saying I couldn't do it if I didn't do it anymore because I was already over 40 (laughs). In my opinion, the age number has nothing to do with me, the so-called post-70s, post-80s, post-90s, is actually artificially added to the label, in fact, this boundary is not important, should not be bound.

Once I went to interview Teacher Qin Yi, she was 95 years old. I was completely shocked. Because her state makes me feel like she's 60 years old, or even better. After the interview, I felt even more firmly that age is a number and doesn't say anything. When others ask how old are you? When you can reply, "I'm 90," it's a really cool thing. I'm looking forward to that moment.

Beiqing Daily: Modern society is advancing at an accelerated pace and changing rapidly, and young people who have just entered society and the workplace are particularly prone to confusion and confusion. What advice would you give to younger female readers?

Lu Yu: I especially believe in Tiandao's reward and self-discipline. You try to do something, and one day you may get some kind of reverberation or even reward, although you may not have thought of it at first. Along the way, I have met many "fierce characters", all of whom are gods and men, and they are extremely disciplined. Of course, they are not only excellent because of self-discipline, but one of the costs of excellence must be self-discipline.
