In 1945, Japan surrendered, as one of the number one war criminals in the war of aggression against China, Hideki Tojo's fate is self-evident, that is, to accept the trial of the Allies.
However, Hideki Tojo had a certain amount of personal freedom before being imprisoned for trial, so he was given a chance to choose how to die.
When Hideki Tojo was serving as Japan's Minister of Land, he demanded from all Japanese soldiers in the Battle Front: "As a Japanese soldier, you cannot be captured, you can only commit suicide." ”
So he chose to commit suicide at home.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="4" > First, the whole process of Tojo Hideki's volt method</h1>
Curiously, Hideki Tojo, who was born into a traditional military family, did not follow the traditional Japanese Bushido method of cutting his abdomen to commit suicide, but instead chose a very European and American way of suicide, that is, shooting him in the heart.
Hideki Tojo asked a health doctor to mark his heart, and every time the bath mark was washed off, Hideki Tojo would go out of his way to repaint it.
In this way, washing off the repaint, washing off the painting, and so on, for a month, Hideki Tojo did not make any further movements on his heart.
On September 11, 1945, MacArthur, commander-in-chief of allied forces in Japan, finally issued an arrest warrant for former Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo. Soon, U.S. gendarmes knocked on the door of Hideki Tojo's residence.
"Do you have an arrest warrant?" Hideki Tojo, dressed in a short-sleeved shirt, asked through the window.
A gendarme immediately opened the arrest warrant in his hand. "Wait, open the door immediately," Hideki Tojo, who saw the proof, said to the American gendarmes, and his figure disappeared into the window.
However, the soldiers outside the door did not see Hideki Tojo reappear for a long time, until a gunshot was heard from inside the house.
The Scene seen by the American gendarmes and reporters who broke through the door was Hideki Tojo sitting on a sofa, bleeding profusely from his chest, while he was holding a smoking pistol in his hand.
Unfortunately, the bullet was deflected, and Hideki Tojo did not breathe, and he was still moaning continuously. But despite the bleeding in his chest, the reporters who entered the door did not care whether he was alive or dead.
They just want to grab this headline as soon as possible.
"Tilt his head a little to the left" "I want to take a picture of Hideki Tojo holding a pistol and help hold his pistol tightly" "I must take a picture of a fly left on Tojo's forehead"... The reporters in the room were talking and directing, the flash in their hands was constantly flashing, and no one cared about Hideki Tojo, who was moaning incessantly.
Seeing that Hideki Tojo never swallowed his last breath, the captain of the gendarmerie who was responsible for arresting him finally gave the order to send Hideki Tojo to the hospital for rescue.
The missing Hideki Tojo lost his right to make his own choices, and he was greeted only by a just trial by the Allies. Because the blood bank was in a hurry, an American soldier twice donated blood to Hideki Tojo to save his life.
Asked why he did this, the American soldier said, "I want him to live, just so that he can be punished as he deserves, so that he can die safely, and it is too cheap for him." ”
Of course, regarding Hideki Tojo's suicide, many people suspect that his initial motives were not pure.
As a soldier who has experienced hundreds of battles, Hideki Tojo will not be unaware that shooting bullets out of his mouth is the fastest way to die, but Hideki Tojo, who is "bent on death", did not use this method.
Even more suspicious is the fact that Hideki Tojo was left-handed, and that he used his right hand to shoot that day, so that the bullet was deflected in the end, which is really puzzling.
In response to these questions, Hideki Tojo slyly argued: "I didn't want to die undignified, so I gave up the way of shooting from the mouth; as for the final bullet, it was only because the skin on my chest was sagging, so the mark was also off." ”
But what the truth is, except for Hideki Tojo, no one knows, only that Hideki Tojo was eventually arrested by order.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="6" > two or three years of trial</h1>
In October 1945, Hideki Tojo's wounds were largely healed, and he was secretly escorted to the Omori Prisoner of War Shelter one night while recuperating in hospital, and since then, The International has also begun his three-year trial.
Before Japan's defeat, Hideki Tojo was an avid junki enthusiast, and his unassuming appearance was "late in life" and he was not promoted to major general until the age of 49, but this did not affect him from becoming a "figure shouldering the Japanese army" in the future.
At the age of 51, under the recommendation of his classmates, Hideki Tojo "turned over the salted fish" and embarked on his own "peak road".
As a battlefield enthusiast, Hideki Tojo was the main culprit in expanding the war of aggression against China and launching the Pacific War. In the name of maintaining order in Asia, Hideki Tojo frantically invaded China.
Before his arrest, he had been adhering to the principle that the Great East Asian War was a just war, and in China, he had indulged the troops' crazy burning and looting, and the tragic Nanjing Massacre was the embodiment of his atrocities.
As a result, he became one of the three giants of fascism with the same name as Hitler and Mussolini. His hands are stained with the blood of the people of Asia and the people of the world.
Miraculously, however, after being imprisoned, Hideki Tojo changed his initial fanaticism and converted to Buddhism. Whether this is his "sincere repentance" or another of his treacherous schemes, in short, he can never escape the fate of being tried justly.
Because he was a Class A war criminal with heinous crimes, the trial of Hideki Tojo lasted for a long time. Throughout the trial, Hideki Tojo denied all of the 54-point charges pointed out by the court, and even made a "not guilty plea" for himself, so shameless!
On December 26, 1947, Hideki Tojo was allowed to defend himself. Without shame, he prepared a 200,000-word, 220-page defense that read for two and a half days. In the face of the judge's questions, Hideki Tojo always adhered to his fascist views.
"China's antipathy toward Japan has long existed, and Japan has absolutely no aggression against Manchuria."
"The so-called people have nothing to do with war, and China and Japan are the same. But it is a mistake for a country's leader to know the politicianhood of a country's leader and to know that the people are insulting day by day, so that they can abuse and kill. ”
"I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with waging a war, and it is a legitimate thing to do."
In court, Hideki Tojo defended his actions word for word. From beginning to end, he insisted that his actions were to re-establish order in Asia, and that Japan did not launch an invasion; that war with Britain and the United States was also because the other side acted first, and that they were only acting in self-defense.
Even more egregiously, during the trial, Hideki Tojo also wrote a letter to Lieutenant Colonel Ken wahchi, then captain of the gendarmerie of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, to glorify his aggressive behavior.
In the letter, he cleverly said: "Peace in the Far East is the heartfelt wish of me and others living in East Asia. World peace is a long-cherished wish shared by all mankind in the world"; "The tentacles of the conch are necessary for self-protection." Because of the tentacles, they are said to be militant animals, which is a big joke", all this is simply brazen.
However, facts speak louder than words, and the sinners of history will eventually find it difficult to escape the punishment of history.
At 3:52 p.m. on November 12, 1948, the three-year-long trial finally came to an end, and Weber, president of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, made the final verdict on Hideki Tojo: Hideki Tojo, 65 years old, a native of Tokyo, who had served as a general of the army, a minister of land, a minister of the interior, a prime minister, and a chief of staff, and was sentenced to death by hanging.
However, the grasshoppers after the autumn are still making the final struggle before dying.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="8" > third, the historical sinner who will eventually be punished</h1>
On the evening of December 21, 1948, Hideki Tojo received an order that he would be hanged two days later. He made two final demands: one was to eat a Meal of Japanese food on the last day, and the other was to meet with the prison instructor.
The court complied with his request, but Hideki Tojo was still trying to jump.
Since the final trial was settled, Hideki Tojo has been held in a separate cell. Searchlights as bright as day hung above his head day and night, and American gendarmes monitored his actions twenty-four hours, all to prevent him from committing suicide.
However, even under such close surveillance, Hideki Tojo still took advantage of the loophole.
On the evening of the 22nd, the day before the execution, when U.S. Military Colonel Pelo inspected the prison, he found Hideki Tojo in his cell with his neck on a rope, intending to hang himself.
Pelo rushed in and cut the rope, and Hideki Tojo, who had been rescued, cried tearfully, "Let me die like a samurai." ”
How did Hideki Tojo get the rope to hang under such tight guard? It turned out that he had secretly hidden the tissue, wet it with water and rubbed it into a strange rope, and he intended to use it to end his life.
Unfortunately, like the last suicide, he failed again, and he was destined to be hanged by the court.
On the day of the execution, in the early morning of December 23, 1948, four Class-A war criminals, including Hideki Tojo, were taken to a special Buddhist hall in the prison, where the monks recited the final sutra for them.
Five minutes before the hanging, Hideki Tojo handed over a string of rosary beads and tortoiseshell-rimmed glasses to the prison instructor Hanayama and entrusted him to hand them over to his family.
After the test, Hideki Tojo walked up to the level 30 gallows, and it was only then that he really felt close to death. When he went to the gallows, his hands and feet trembled because he did not listen to the call.
Finally, he walked up the last steps, and the executioners put on a black turban and put on a rope. Everything is only pending execution.
At 0:10:30 on the 23rd, Hideki Tojo was roped to accept his infamous life, and to his death he shouted the words "Long live the Emperor of Japan", after which the ashes were thrown to the sea by the US army.
History has always been on the side of justice, and those who try to undermine world peace will eventually perish, just like Hideki Tojo.
