In the long march 5 Yaosan mission that had just been successfully achieved, with the order of the 01 commander, a finger steadily pressed a red ignition button, followed by a huge roar, and the "Fat Five" rocket spewed out a long flame, taking off into the air and going straight up into the sky. This is Yu Peng, an engineer at the Wenchang Space Launch Site, known as the "golden finger" that ignited the "Fat Five".
The position where "Goldfinger" is located is called the launch control station, which is the core hub of the rocket control system, and almost all the front-end equipment must be controlled through the power console.
There are more than 100 buttons in the transmitter, each representing a control command. There are more than 200 parameters on the four monitors, each representing the state of a different device on the front end. The first thing Yu Peng has to do is to study this "brain" and figure out what each button above represents, what each parameter represents, and what the different values of each parameter represent.
In order to be foolproof, Yu Peng found the drawings of the hair console, starting from the research principle and memorizing the button. "Sometimes, he spends a day in the control hall with a technical drawing, and we need to call him even for dinner." Yu Peng colleague said. The basic principles of the transmitter and the control buttons are clear, and more than 200 parameters on the display are not so easy.
Yu Peng knows that to thoroughly understand these parameters, it is necessary to start from being familiar with every state of the rocket and all front-end equipment, and from being familiar with every process of rocket test launch. "Compared with the Long March 5 Yao-3 rocket, there are about 100 technical state changes, and many corresponding equipment have also undergone technical state changes, which need to be learned one by one." Yu Peng went to the Tianjin Rocket Assembly Plant to track and study, carefully recorded the state changes of each rocket, and after returning, he revised and improved the corresponding operating procedures, and he also made a lot of lesson plans for the knowledge he learned, deepened his understanding, and also explained the lectures to the new comrades.
Although it is hard work, blowing out the wild sand begins to reach gold. In October this year, the Long March 5 Yaosan rocket finally arrived at the Wenchang Space Launch Site, and Yu Peng, who had been preparing for many years, finally wanted to realize his dream. With great expectations, after consulting with his girlfriend, he postponed the wedding date that was originally scheduled for the end of this year and devoted himself to the task.
Every day, Yu Peng had to go through all the buttons and parameters on the hair console in his head like a movie, and he had to memorize the thick and 100-page emergency plan repeatedly. It wasn't until the rocket took off successfully and the launch mission was a complete success that he breathed a long sigh of relief and called his mother and his girlfriend in Shanghai who were far away in Shandong for the first time.
"I have always kept my energy highly concentrated, afraid of missing any parameters and pressing the wrong button." Even at the moment when the ignition button is pressed steadily, the heart is tightly clenched. It wasn't until the rocket was accurately orbited that the big stone in my heart landed on the ground, and I couldn't help but hug my colleagues, with mixed feelings! Yu Peng said that the mission has been repeatedly postponed for various reasons, even after the rocket enters the launch process, it is not smooth sailing, fortunately, in the two general inspections, there are two slight abnormalities in the parameters that have been found by themselves, and the causes of the problems have been analyzed in time and quickly solved, ensuring the smooth progress of the mission.
Now, too late to relax, Yu Peng is again involved in intense task preparations, and his next goal is to participate in next year's Chang'e 5 and other national brand missions as a control system commander. He said that he wanted to be a staunch dreamer in the great new journey of the motherland's aerospace power!
