VV-ECMO is to provide lung function for patients, and VVA-ECMO is to provide the function of both heart and lung organs.
To give patients VV-ECMO, it is necessary to intubate the patient's femoral vein and jugular vein, which is already a difficult operation, and to give the patient VVA-ECMO is based on the former, and then insert a tube into the patient's femoral artery. "There are very few general tertiary hospitals in China that can carry out this operation." Hu Ming said.
In the end, with the joint efforts of 12 experts in respiratory, severe and extracardiac disciplines in 10 hospitals in Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei and Inner Mongolia, after about 3 hours of hard work, the VVA-ECMO operation was a complete success, and the patients won the hope of 5% of life. In the face of the treatment of critically ill patients with new coronary pneumonia, Hu Ming immediately proposed the importance of standardizing the treatment process.
