A century-old enterprise "heirloom", paying tribute to the centennial style!
Since May 11, CCTV Financial Channel has launched a 100-episode micro-documentary "Red Finance and Reliquary 100 Years". Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute is a national large-scale comprehensive architectural design institute with a history of 70 years, and the souvenir brought this time is a hand-painted architectural design and construction drawing of the main building of the Yellow Crane Tower. The construction drawings were drawn in 1979 by hand by the designers of the Central South Architectural Design Institute, totaling about 150 pieces.
The construction drawings not only reproduce the simple and majestic posture of the Yellow Crane Tower that has disappeared for nearly a hundred years, but also condense the essence of the Architectural Culture of the Chinese nation.
The Yellow Crane Tower, first built in 223 AD, has a history of more than 1800 years, and in the millennium years, the Yellow Crane Tower has been destroyed and rebuilt 27 times.
In May 1978, Hubei Province restarted the reconstruction of the Yellow Crane Tower and solicited plans for the reconstruction of the Yellow Crane Tower from the whole country. In the same year, the Wuhan Municipal Government received more than 20 designs for the reconstruction of the Yellow Crane Tower Office. After layers of selection, the first round of design plans submitted by Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute was shortlisted.
However, in the follow-up further plan selection, the Hubei Provincial Government proposed amendments to the plan of the Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute, pointing out that the building designed by the plan is relatively thin, the national style is not strong enough, and it is necessary to make a new plan within one month.
In the face of sudden challenges, Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute has set up a Special Yellow Crane Tower Program Design Team to focus on design advantages and go all out to make a new plan as soon as possible. After repeated communication, the eaves of the new design scheme adopt the large cornices of traditional Chinese architecture, and the contours are designed in accordance with the traditional and classical form. The design direction is basically established, however, one of the most critical questions has aroused discussion in the design team, how to solve the problem of innovation and inheritance in the design solution?
The design team went through a large number of classic materials and finally found a picture of the Yellow Crane Tower taken in the Qing Dynasty. Weighing it up again and again, the design team decided to take the Qing Dynasty Yellow Crane Tower in the photo as the prototype for the design, in accordance with the basic style and characteristics of the Qing Dynasty Yellow Crane Tower, and considering that the reconstructed Yellow Crane Tower is located on snake mountain, no longer facing the river, but still maintaining the poetic meaning of climbing high and overlooking the yangtze River since ancient times.
Combining the changes in urban development and the development needs of future high-rise buildings, the design team referred to the three-story height of the Yellow Crane Tower in the Qing Dynasty, raised the height of the Yellow Crane Tower to 50 meters, reaching the height of 5 floors, and changed the design of the eaves to layers of cornices, looking at the same. The shape of "lower rumbling and sharp, its shape is like a barrel" makes the Yellow Crane Tower majestic from any angle.
In June 1985, the main building of the Yellow Crane Tower was completed, and after a thousand years of waiting, the "Yellow Crane" finally returned. 5-storey cornices, pointed roofs, golden glazed tile roofs. The Yellow Crane Tower, which carries the spirit and charm of traditional Chinese culture, stands on the shore of the Yangtze River and the Snake Mountain.
After completing the reconstruction of the Yellow Crane Tower, the Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute worked tirelessly to create outstanding works that were popular among the population. In the 1980s, the first supertall building independently designed by Chinese, the Shenzhen International Trade Center, was drawn. Since 2000, more than 300 high-speed rail stations represented by Xiamen North Railway Station, Taiyuan South Railway Station and Hangzhou East Railway Station have been designed. During the Wuhan epidemic, the Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute built and transformed 14 hospitals and 21 fang cabin hospitals in one month, with a total of 38 anti-epidemic projects and more than 30,000 beds. Each design project highlights the mission and responsibility of Zhongnan Architectural Design Institute.
