Follow the Chief Physician
He is also the winner of the second "Jiangxi Provincial Physician Award" - Yu Bentong
A little bit of what the next surgeon is doing is recorded
At 7:20 a.m., in the Xianghu Branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University on Dongyue Avenue in Nanchang City, patients who came to see the hospital lined up one after another. Changing into a white coat, Yu Bentong's day's work began. During the half-hour rounds, even if he did not control the detailed list of cases, he clearly remembered the condition of each patient, which was also the time that the family attached the most importance to.
Yu Bentong, chief physician of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University: The patients who are completely cured may account for one-third. Some of them can prolong his life or improve his quality of life, and some patients cannot be cured. We have a famous saying in medicine that sometimes cures, always helps, always comforts. So I thought, I have to be patient, I've been a patient myself, it's really painful, I have to listen patiently.
As soon as the rounds were over, Yu Bentong rushed to the outpatient room non-stop. There, more than 30 patients are already waiting for him, and a large number of patients come from other places or hospitals in the province with their test results.
"Where's the discomfort?" What's uncomfortable? "Check with a stethoscope and then prescribe medication ... A series of conversations and operations, throughout the morning, Yu Bentong could hardly stop.
During the morning sitting time, Yu Bentong almost sat and did not move, and his mouth did not stop. He told reporters that in order to save time, it is "common for surgeons not to drink a sip of water for three or four hours." At the end of the morning consultation, it was almost 12 o'clock in the afternoon, and he was ready to enter the operating room.
Without stopping for a moment, Yu Bentong hurried to the hospital operating room. Half an hour later, a radical surgery for esophageal cancer awaited him. Today, he has a total of 4 surgeries. After changing into his surgical gown, he quickly washed his hands and disinfected them and put on gloves.
On the operating table, a 49-year-old patient with esophageal cancer has received a thoracoscope. As early as more than half an hour before this, the assistant doctors of Yu Bentong's team had already done the preparatory work such as disinfection, laying orders, and punching holes in the early stage. Yu Bentong's main tasks are: removing tumors, cleaning lymph nodes, and completing esophageal reconstruction. Two hours later, Yu Bentong's work in this operation was finally completed. At this time, Yu Bentong had not yet eaten lunch.
Reporter: Are there more surgeries today?
Director Yu: Today is not much, but today's surgery is more complicated and large. In fact, we often do this, generally can not eat lunch on time at noon, we are used to it.
After lunch, dr. Yu Bentong had to run back and forth between the two operating rooms in the afternoon because of the multiple different types of esophageal cancer surgery. From 12 noon to 7:30 pm, he stayed in the operating room for more than 7 hours, because there was no sunrise and sunset on the operating table, and the time here was vague, but clear, because every minute and second was in his hands.
However, even the strongest iron-fisted physician has weaknesses. Due to years of overload work and long-term surgical platforms, Yu Bentong fell "old" on his body, with severe cervical and lumbar disc herniation, and every long operation was for him. It's all a big challenge.
Yu Bentong said that in fact, today's surgery is not particularly much. At most, the department had more than 30 surgeries together, and he had done up to thirteen or four surgeries a day, sometimes working until 10 p.m. or even later. Some young doctors work harder, get off the operating table and go to the ward to check the room, 24 hours on duty. The surgeon's work of "even shaft rotation" is very normal, and everyone has become accustomed to it, which is also the small self for the big me, they are in pain and happy.
Dai Shaohua, resident physician of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University: In fact, it is false to say that you are not tired, and it is of course tiring to be tired, but since you have chosen such a profession, we say that since you chose a distant place, even if you have to go forward in the wind and rain. As a doctor, I hope that all my colleagues will always remember the vow we made when we entered this industry, and we will always work hard for life.
Where there are angels in white
But ordinary people put on battle robes
Learn from your predecessors
And death rob people
They will do their best to save lives
Also keep running for life
