In order to present the audience with a dog-themed work comparable to "Loyal Dog Hachiko", producer Ming Qiucheng invited the famous Thai director Sankai Vidulang to direct the film, and Sankai's "October Sonata" won thirteen awards including the Best Film Award at the Golden Swan Awards of Thai National Cinema in 2009, and also directed the same dog-themed film "Looking for Dog Topon", which won the best film at the 37th Italian Geefni Film Festival.
