Liu Chenggan Jiayetang: The first (part 2) Wei Li in the world in the private collection

I quietly looked through these old collections on the second floor of Jiaye hall, in my mind, this should be a quiet fairy land, however, the courtyard constantly came in groups of tourists, the tour guide used a loudspeaker to explain the history and significance of Jiaye Hall, each tour guide's explanation words are similar, a hundred words may only be slightly different, but there is one thing they emphasize together, that is, let tourists look carefully at the sewer of Jiaye Hall, saying that this sewer design is extremely ingenious, from the center of the pillar of the porch.

I heard a tourist ask the tour guide what to do if the sewer is blocked, and the tour guide's answer is that this question has not appeared, so I don't know. There is also a tour guide, who introduced that Jiayetang hides a lot of ancient books, which are very valuable, and now that the currency is depreciating, it is better to buy money into ancient books to appreciate in value. But today's appreciation, and what is the connection with the owner of Jiayetang, I wanted to use this sentence to ask this tour guide for advice, especially I can't tolerate a commentary, that is, when they explained that the collection of books in Jiayetang was divided into subsets of jingshi, almost every tour guide said that jiayetang each hid a Song edition book, which is the treasure of jiayetang's town treasury, and I really wanted to run over to tell them that this is four books, not four books, and if you think about it, this may also be that the guide manual they recited is wrong, otherwise it is impossible for everyone to say wrong.

The main hall on the second floor is the Higu Building

In the evening, Director Zheng Zongnan invited me to dinner and took me to a familiar restaurant, which looked very ordinary, but there was one thing that was very special, that is, the restaurant only made one dish, and only said "serve" when he came here to eat, not "a la carte", because there was no dish to order. Five minutes back to a washbasin-sized stainless steel basin, which is filled with various ingredients, the main ingredient should be chicken nuggets, the rest of the winter shoots, dried tofu, cabbage, and local specialties - embroidered towel, the name of this dish is very elegant, but in fact like a handful of small rapeseed, much thinner than rape leaves, the stem is like spinach, the leaves are smaller than spinach. Brother Zheng said that this dish is only produced locally in Nanxun, and friends from other places can only buy it in Nanxun if they want to eat this bite, and he often helps his friends to buy this dish. This big pot of various ingredients boiled together, in addition to the taste of a little spicy, but also really called delicious, especially the main ingredient chicken, seems to be very different from the usual taste of eating, Brother Zheng said that this is the authentic scattered hen, I remembered that he belongs to the chicken, I wanted to ask him why he can still eat chicken, and feel that this way of asking some scenery, there is no mouth.

The most famous antiquities of Jiayetang: the Howling Stone

Staying in Xiaolianzhuang Hotel at night, Xiaolianzhuang originally belonged to the owner of Jiayetang, Liu Chenggan also went to school in the private school in Xiaolianzhuang when he was a child, and now the people who open the hotel have nothing to do with the Liu family and Jiayetang, it seems that Jiayetang still lacks brand protection awareness. Brother Zheng also told me that the newly built Nanxun Library has a library of rare books with constant temperature and humidity, but unfortunately there are no rare books in it, and the library people once came to Jiayetang to discuss and wanted Jiayetang to take out some books to keep in the rare book library of Nanxun Library, but the leaders of the provincial library did not agree. Now more and more tourists come to Nanxun, individual customers are one hundred yuan per person, and the annual ticket income is tens of millions, of which only half a million are distributed to Jiayetang.

What happens after the bookcase is opened

I think this is a bit unfair, in my mind, the main reason for coming to Nanxun Town should be that Jiayetang is here, and I don't know what else to see in this town. But whether tourists think so, I don't understand. At least I have come to Nanxun many times, and I have seen all the tourists who come to this town to Jiaye Hall, which proves that the biggest attraction in Nanxun, that is, this library building, is not too low. I asked Brother Zheng by the way whether the main economic income of Nanxun Town depended on tourism, and he told me that this was not the case, the pillar industry of Nanxun was wooden flooring, and there was also a floor festival in the local area. I can't associate the floor with Jia Ye Tang under any circumstances, and it seems that there is no economic and cultural connection.

Glorious past

My feelings about Liu Chenggan are more complicated, from the perspective of book collection, he built such a great library building, and collected a huge number of thread-bound books, these two points alone can make him pass through the ages. And my mixed feelings stem from knowing more and more about him, I can know that he worked hard to collect books and carve books, but unfortunately did not catch up with the good times, resulting in the collection of Jiayetang, its rise and fall, and its failure. When Jiayetang was at its peak, he was coveted by all kinds of people, especially he was probed by these figures, thinking that Liu Chenggan was just a rich man, who went to take advantage of his oil, took advantage of him, and would not get revenge, so he tried all kinds of ways to get books and money from Liu Chenggan's hands, that situation was like dividing tang monk meat, I seemed to see a kind old man being bullied by people pushing and robbing, but he did not have much power to fight back.

The Joy of Harmony: The Condition of 1947

Liu Chenggan is a kind man, he is a huge rich man in Nanxun, but the huge wealth is not his fault, he was born with a golden spoon, his grandfather Liu Yong originally ran a cotton silk shop, did not make much money, and later turned to the lake silk business, "not a few years of industry soaring, when the beginning of the Tongzhi Dynasty, has accumulated hundreds of thousands of wealth, the number of huge wealth", but I found the information, there are also said that his property is not only hundreds of thousands, it is said that it has reached ten million silver, in that era, this is definitely an astronomical number, may not be spent in a hundred lifetimes. To Liu Chenggan's generation, he did not sit in the mountains and eat as others imagined, he himself was also doing business, running real estate in Shanghai, once a famous big real estate developer in Shanghai Beach, this rich man was not stingy, in today's words, he has been doing charity, but not as high-profile as Chen Guangbiao today, turning charity into a show. At his heyday, Liu Chenggan gave an orphanage in Suzhou 10,000 oceans a year for twenty consecutive years, which is a thing worth showing, but it is not recorded in his "Eighty Self-Narration".

Exquisite book box

I also read a legend, that is, Liu Chenggan developed in Shanghai, occasionally when he returned to his hometown to worship his ancestors, he saw that there were many poor people begging for food at the disembarkation place, he felt unbearable, so he sent each person to a piece of ocean, in that era, a piece of ocean was a big number, this matter caused a sensation in the local area, since then, every time Liu Chenggan returned to Nanxun, there would be groups of people waiting to beg for this piece of ocean, but Liu Chenggan did not feel that this was slaughtering fat pigs, he prepared more money, as long as someone begged, he would give a piece of the ocean. In fact, he did not only do some good things for the poor, Jiang Ruzao, another major bibliophile in Nanxun, sold most of the books in the Secret Yun Building because of business failures, which is a story known to the book industry, but few people noticed that Liu Chenggan saw Jiang Ruzao's plight and actually contributed hundreds of thousands of yuan to help the Jiang family tide over the difficulties. Liu Chenggan has a lot of idle chapters, one of which he himself attaches great importance to, that is, "Ning people bear me, do not let me bear people", I saw this sentence, very touched, because this is also the attitude of being a person that I believe in.

In addition to buying Liu Chenggan's old collection, I also have a little karma with Jiayetang. A few years ago, two experts from Zhejiang Tu wrote "Jiayetang Zhi", the manuscript was handed over to the publishing house that specializes in this aspect of the book - Guotu Publishing House, the responsible editor of the book is Teacher Yin Mengxia, Teacher Yin is a senior editor, and now she has been promoted to the vice president of the society, she has always been modest, after the completion of this "Jiayetang Zhi", she handed me the original manuscript and let me look at it again. Of course, I could not betray her trust, and I read the manuscript carefully, especially checking the original text, and using almost all the reference books I had at hand. After this book was printed, my happiness exceeded that of my own book publishing, and I felt that my happiness was not only because of the publication of this book, but more importantly, I was happy for Liu Chenggan, because in today's society, I have once again affirmed everything he paid in that year, if he can know that this book has been published, he should feel relieved, and I can help him improve this book, which is also a kind of respect for him.
