At 10:00 a.m. on June 14, 2016, I stepped into platinum studios. The day wasn't for recording, it was for a few photos of me in the studio. The cinematographer is Ye Chui-ching, the owner of the Platinum Studio, which was founded in 1980. He has not been on the console for many years and has become passionate about photography. The studio is hung with many of his photographs from all over the world, and the pictures that stop at frame can feel the full sense of rhythm.

Released in 1986, my album "8 and Half", which was completed by Ye Chuiqing in charge of the recording work, was completed at the site of the earliest Platinum Recording Studio Triple Justice North Road. The remix commemorative version of the 30th anniversary of "8 and 1/2" was photographed by the original recording engineer, and the album of this commemorative edition was released, confirming the changes in the world in the past thirty years.

What has not changed is the mood I have had every time I stepped into the studio for thirty-seven years, until today: in the autumn of 1979, I had just retired from the army and began my first job: music producer. The first studio experience was in the Lifeng studio, and the kind of overly cold air conditioner mixed with the heat of the machine always made me emotionally excited. I firmly believe that at this time and place, beautiful music can be created, and then spread to various places and spread to the future.

In 2014, Warner Music intended to remake the "8 and a Half" album, but for some reason, only cd mastering was left from UFO Records. Of course, it is impossible to use cd master tape to reproduce vinyl records, because the format of the output is different, and the sound quality will be different.

The album's 24-track two-inch dribble is on the shelves of my studio, and over the past thirty years, I have changed many places, never thought I would use it again, and therefore did not do moisture treatment, and kept it as a souvenir.

Very fortunately, the dribbling condition is fine, after the platinum is baked, and then the track is converted into digital and stored on the hard disk, only the lead vocal track of the song "8 and Half" is damaged and there is a noise, when the re-recording, my voice is still the same, but the mood is complicated.

In thirty years, we have written many songs to tell the stories of our own lives and the lives of others. And we are so inevitably experiencing these changes in the world, sad and happy.

All along, my job has been music. Or there may be brilliance or gloom, but it is always enjoyable. Being able to create with many excellent singers, writers, musicians, and artists is the most beautiful situation I have ever had along the way. Moreover, it has not stopped, and it is the luckiest surprise of my life.

In the summer of 2015, 8 and a half was remixed by Rosspallone at LA, and we collaborated on Ai Jing's Made in China album in 1998. In recent years, Ross has been working as a live engineer (live concert mixer) for (master recording engineer, famous musician) alan parsons concerts, and I deliberately did not let Ross listen to the previous mix, hoping that he would have his own ideas, only to tell him: This is a 1986 recording, to have an eighty-something feel.

After finishing mix work, Ross told me that there was a concert by Alan Parsons the next night, so I postponed the day back to the stage, watched the show, and met the idol who influenced my music deeply backstage.

More than forty years ago, under the influence of European and American rock music, I became interested in music and chose music as a lifelong job. In the past thirty years, I have often met people who say to me that I am engaged in music-related work under the influence of "8 and Half".

And years from now, who will they affect?
