At about 9 a.m. yesterday, a stone pier with reliefs and a bluestone slab were dug up on a road construction site on the west side of the Zhujiang New Town community, which some citizens believe to be old objects.
Mr. Zhang, a nearby resident, said, "The stone pier is carved with reliefs of various animals and patterns, which is an old object at first glance. At about 11:00 a.m., the Huashang Daily reporter saw at the scene that there was a lot of dirt on the stone piers and stone slabs, of which the stone piers were generally cylindrical, the bottom was a square base, about 30 centimeters high and about 30 centimeters in diameter, and the sides of the stone piers were divided into eight sides. Immediately adjacent to the stone pier is a bluestone slab with irregular edges, about 10 cm thick, about 60 cm long, and about 30 cm wide, with a flat surface.
Construction workers said that the land has been turned over several times because of the construction of the nearby community, and there was a foundation pit in the area before, and the stone piers and bluestone slabs may have been brought from other places when the soil was transported from elsewhere to fill the pit.
Yesterday afternoon, the staff of the Xi'an Cultural Relics Inspection Team looked at the photos of the object, and preliminarily determined that the stone pier should belong to the objects such as horse stones in the homes of former rural villagers, and it is still uncertain what era it belongs to.
