Biography of Emperor Xuan of Han Liu Yi The legendary emperor who grew up in prison

author:Interesting history

Liu Yi in Chang'an Tian's prison was already a death row prisoner. In this life, he even had the luxury of being a commoner in peace and security, but the ghost made The gods become emperors. After Liu Yi ascended the throne, he changed his name to Liu Qing, known as Emperor Xuan of Han in history, and was known as the "Lord of Zhongxing" of the Western Han Dynasty. This child, who was originally isolated from the throne, eventually became a generation of masters, some people said that he was "the son of heaven who came out of Chang'an prison", some people said that he was the only emperor in Chinese history who grew up in prison, and some people wrote a popular TV series based on Liu Yiji's deeds, "Oolong Breaking through the Love Pass". How did Liu Yi do it? What kind of legend has it been? Everything has to start from Chang'an City in 92 BC and the last year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.

That year, Bingji, a native of the State of Lu (present-day Qufu, Shandong), ushered in a major turnaround in his political destiny. Bing Ji studied the law from an early age, once served as a prison guard in the state of Lu, and because of his merits, he was promoted to the imperial court as the right supervisor of Ting Wei (Ting Wei's senior assistant, equivalent to the current procurator of the Supreme Procuratorate). Unfortunately, serving in the imperial court was not enough to require political achievements. Bing Ji was obviously not accustomed to the complicated relationship between the central authorities, and soon after being implicated in the case, he was deposed from Beijing and went to other places to serve as a state (senior assistant to the feudal governor).

Now, without warning, BingJi received the order to return to Chang'an to take up his post, and although he was full of doubts, he quickly packed his bags and returned to Beijing.

In this year, there was a "scourge of witchcraft" in Chang'an City. The catastrophe occurred between the elderly Emperor Wu of Han and the not-so-young Prince Liu Zhao of Wei. Liu Zhao, because he was framed by hostile forces and courtiers, was suspected by his father Emperor Wu of Han. Fearing disaster, he was forced to raise an army against Jiangchong, and was forced to commit suicide after being defeated. Its mother,

Emperor Wu's empress Dowager Wei Zifu also hanged herself. Emperor Wu of Han, in his anger, lost his clear judgment and strictly ordered a deep investigation of Prince Wei's entire family and his henchmen. Prince Wei's entire family was beheaded, and tens of thousands of subjects in Chang'an City were killed. Many Of the Capital Officials were stripped of their citizenship. Due to the complexity of the "Curse of the Witches" case, the extremely large number of people involved, and the fact that many Beijing officials themselves were affected, the imperial court dispatched case-handling personnel from the localities. Because Bing Ji had served as the right supervisor of Ting Wei and was not involved in the case, he was transferred back to Chang'an to participate in the trial of the case.

In the midst of political repression and white terror, the so-called "trial" of the case is a complete empty phrase. Everything has been determined, and the job of Bingji and others is actually to implement the intention, complete the procedure, and punish the prisoners. Specific to Bingji's task, it was to be in charge of Chang'an's prison.

There was a baby in Chang'an's heavenly prison who had just turned a full moon, and was imprisoned because of the "scourge of witchcraft". He was the grandson of Prince Wei and the great-grandson of Emperor Wu of Han. The Prince of Wei, Liu Liangdi, gave birth to Emperor Shi's grandson Liu Jin. The Emperor's grandson, Lady Liu Jinna, gave birth to this baby, known as the Emperor's great-grandson. The little baby was "witchcrafted" as soon as he was born, and his relatives such as the prince, Liangdi, the emperor's grandson, and Lady Wang were all killed. The baby is still swaddling. The political enemies did not know what to do with him, so they put him in a big prison to await the judgment of fate.

The dutiful Bingji discovers the little emperor's great-grandson while inspecting the prison. At that time, the baby was already dying after a long period of crying and long-term lack of milk. The kind BingJi could not bear it, so he secretly found two female prisoners in the cell who had just given birth and milk, and who were loyal and cautious (one was Zhao Zhengqing of Huaiyang and the other was Hu Group of Weicheng people) to feed the baby in turn. Bingji also found a ventilated, dry cell for the baby, providing moderate heating and warming, and complete supplies.

In the following months, Bingji received a monthly salary, and first exchanged rice and meat for the great-grandson of the little emperor in the cell. He insisted on checking the baby's growth every day and not allowing anyone to disturb the child. Sometimes, Bingji was too busy or sick, and he also sent his family to visit the little emperor's great-grandson in the morning and evening to see if the bedding was dry and wet, and whether he ate properly. However, the conditions in the prison were after all bad, the newborn emperor's great-grandchildren often got sick, and even several times were critically ill, and BingJi promptly ordered the prison doctor to diagnose and give the child medicine on time, so that the child could turn the crisis into safety. Bingji's Feng Lu was not rich in the first place, and now he had to take care of a weak baby and two nurses, but he always thought about the baby first and took good care of it.

Without Bingji's meticulous care, The Little Emperor's great-grandson would have died in prison long ago. The two nurses who committed crimes also regarded the great-grandson of the little emperor as their own children and took good care of them. In this way, the poor child miraculously grew up in prison.

When Bingji carefully took care of the emperor's great-grandson who was still a prisoner in prison, the "scourge of witchcraft" outside the prison continued for many years. The little emperor's great-grandson is 5 years old and has not yet left the high walls of the prison. BingJi felt that raising the child in prison for life was not the way to do it after all, so he tentatively asked the high-ranking officials and nobles to adopt the child and give the child a normal growth environment. As soon as the high-ranking officials and dignitaries at that time knew the origin of the child, they avoided it, and no one wanted to adopt it. Unable to do so, Bingji had no choice but to continue to take care of the little emperor's great-grandson.

After the child recovered from a serious illness, Bingji looked at the frail and sickly great-grandson of the little emperor and named him "Sick". This means that the child's illness is all right and will never get sick again. This child was then called "Liu Yiji".

In the second year of the Later Yuan Dynasty (87 BC), Emperor Wu of Han fell seriously ill and traveled back and forth between the Palaces of Changyang and Wuzhuo. Some people wanted to make waves again when Emperor Wu of Han was seriously ill, instructing the feng shui writer to say that there was Tianzi qi in Chang'an Prison. The suspicious Emperor Wu of Han went so far as to send emissaries to the government to say that prisoners held in Chang'an Prison would be killed, regardless of the severity of the crime. The old emperor hoped to sweep away all threats to his power through such a resolute approach.

The inquisitor ordered Guo Yong to rush overnight to the prison in charge of Bingji to carry out the emperor's will. Bingji bravely resisted the Holy Will, ordering the prison gates to be closed and the messengers to be refused entry. He shouted through the wall, "The Emperor's great-grandson is here." It is not possible for others to be killed in the name of nothingness, let alone the emperor's own great-grandson!"

The two sides stalemated until dawn, and Guo Yong still could not go to prison. He had no choice but to return to the palace to report the situation to Emperor Wu of Han and impeach Bingji for resisting. After Emperor Wudi of Han suffered this setback, he instead sobered up a lot, sighed and said, "Maybe heaven borrowed the mouth of Bingji to warn me!"

Emperor Wu of Han did not pursue Bingji's guilt, nor did he continue to issue the holy order to kill the criminals, but instead announced a general amnesty for the world. It is also strange to say that soon Emperor Wudi of Han's illness actually improved.

The prison in charge of Bingji was suddenly empty. Liu's two nurses went back to Huaiyang and Weicheng respectively. Liu Yi is no longer a prisoner, he can be a free ordinary person, and he can really be regarded as a tiger's mouth out of danger. Bing Ji was busy finding a place for Liu Yi to go. He finally found out about Liu Jin's uncle Shi Jia, the father of Emperor Shi's grandson Liu Jin. One of the daughters of the Shi family married Liu Zhao, the Prince of Wei, shi Liangdi. At that time, the Shi family also included Liu Yiji's great-uncle's great-grandmother Zhenjun and his uncle Shi Gong, and the family lived in Du County, a suburb of Chang'an. Bing Ji then sent Liu Yi to the Du County Shi Family. Shi Gong saw this nephew's son, and Mrs. Shi was surprised to see this great-grandson and took over the task of raising him. The old lady has been extremely fond of Liu's illness, and personally takes care of his life despite his old age and flexurality. Liu Yi, who was only 5 years old, had no memory at that time, and in a new and comfortable environment, he gradually forgot about his previous prison life. His impression of the high walls in Chang'an Prison, the two kind nurses, and the free-flowing Bingji became more and more blurred.

For the sake of the safety of the children and in order to give the children a normal environment, the historians also deliberately did not mention the prison in Chang'an. Bing Ji returned to Chang'an and continued to be his official, never mentioning liu's illness. Everything seems to be a thing of the past.

In his later years, Emperor Wu of Han finally learned the truth of the "Scourge of witchcraft" and understood the bitterness and grievances of his son Liu Zhao. Remorseful, he issued a confession to himself and began to rehabilitate the case. Liu's fate began to change.

Before his death, Emperor Wu of Han was still grumpy about personally killing his son. He thought that Liu Still had an only son in this vein, Liu Yiji, so he ordered Zong Zheng (the official in charge of the imperial family line) to re-enter his name into the imperial family genealogy, officially restoring Liu Yiji's status as a member of the royal family.
