Teach you the Taurus Flat Shovel of the Shovel Breeding Series Easy to explode but you have to get past it

Foreword: Last week we shared the reproduction of Solomon's large-headed, thin-bodied spade, and today we will share a reproductive record of a member of the genus Diptera: the Taurus spade (a subspecies of the Philippine subspecies).

As last time, let's first introduce the overall knowledge of the Taurus spade family, so that everyone can have a more comprehensive understanding of this species.

First, the overview of the Taurus spade

: Taurus flat spade is a large family, a total of 7 subspecies, widely distributed, almost all over Southeast Asian countries, the Philippine Islands, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo and Java, etc. can be seen in its figure, the overall number and population is relatively large, habitat is as low as 300m, as high as 1000m or more.

Trivia: Taurus's flat breed name "taurus" means Taurus.

: The male is characterized by a large jaw end partial fork, dense golden hairs on the inner margin, and obvious fine hairs on the abdomen and six feet (leg, tibia and tarsal). Body color is usually black, but there are also individuals or subspecies that appear dark red.

Taurus flat spade tooth type is more varied, different body types show different tooth types, large individuals may be short teeth, small individuals may also have long teeth, while long teeth, middle teeth and short teeth have their own characteristics.

: The largest body of the Taurus flat spade is the Philippine subspecies, Bekuwa breeding recorded to 65.2mm, followed by the original name subspecies 63.7mm, the third is the Javanese subspecies 63.4mm, the specific scientific names of each subspecies are as follows, more detailed information can be found here:

Formerly known as the subspecies: Dorcus taurus taurus

Javanese subspecies: Dorcus taurus gypaetus

Philippine subspecies: Dorcus taurus cribriceps

Borneo subspecies: Dorcus taurus subtaurus

Palawan subspecies: Dorcus taurus moinieri

Celaya Island subspecies: Dorcus taurus minor

Tanajanpaea Island subspecies: Dorcus taurus jampeanus

Philippine subspecies of Taurus cribriceps

The Taurus flat spade we have in hand is judged to be a Filipino subspecies by comparing it with the Japanese spade armor atlas, so here we will introduce the situation of this subspecies.

Distribution: The main production area is the Philippine archipelago, such as Kamikin Island, Basilan Island, Negros Island, Luzon Island, etc., which belong to the dominant species in the local area, and the male breeding record is 65.2mm, and the wild record is 60.4mm.

Features: The male tusk-type jaw of the Philippine subspecies is relatively short (other subspecies), the body is relatively broad, but the head is smaller than the Palawan subspecies; the head lintel has two small triangular protrusions, and the dorsal plate of the forethia is quite developed.

Second, the taurus spade breeding and sharing

1. The first time to give birth

Use 4L feeding containers to arrange the delivery room, the delivery room soil is used this time is H2, the configuration of the spawning wood is maple incense soft, two diameters of about 60mm, the bottom of the fermentation wood chips compacted, the wood is buried in two-thirds, the rest of the routine into the anti-rolling bark and jelly and other foods. About two months to start production, the total production of larvae + eggs is 40.

2. The second delivery

Due to the relatively good first wave of production, coupled with the tension of wood production at hand, the second production is relatively casual, the delivery room container is reduced to 2L, the wood production is only half a maple incense soft, and the whole wood is directly buried in the fermentation wood chips (still using H2).

This time the production started earlier, and it opened a month and a half later, with a total yield of 21 (larvae + eggs), most of which were unhatched eggs and only a few larvae. At present, all eggs have hatched larvae and there are no rotten eggs.

3. Sharing of breeding experience

The overall reproduction of taurus flat spades is relatively easy, and the amount of eggs produced is relatively considerable. The mother's spawning can be described as casual and non-picky, and it will be laid in the surface layer of wood or pure fermented wood chips, and sometimes the wood will be bitten into wood slag and then mixed with fermented wood chips to lay eggs in it.

However, the Taurus flat spade pairing is slightly difficult, the male worm is more grumpy, we lost two female worms in the matching process, one was directly clicked into two halves, the other front chest back plate was clipped, can not give birth normally, burst mother looks like the norm, need to pay attention.

Finally our breeding temperature is between 22 and 24 degrees.

Postscript: Well, this time the breeding sharing of the Taurus flat spade has come to an end, welcome to exchange and share the breeding and breeding experience.
