Vincent van Gogh (March 30, 1853 – July 29, 1890, Aries) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. Van Gogh was a pioneer of Expressionism and deeply influenced twentieth-century art, especially Fauvism and German Expressionism.
Van Gogh's works, such as Starry Night, Sunflower and Crows in the Wheat Field, are among the world's most famous, well-known and expensive works of art. In van Gogh's early life, he was firmly committed to the work of art dealers. After a short teaching career, he became a poor missionary miner.
At the age of 27, Van Gogh began his career as a painter; however, in the last decade of his life, he created more than 2,000 paintings, including about 900 oil paintings and 1,100 drawings, and more than 1,700 van Gogh works have been included on this website. Inspiration van Gogh's early work was only in gray and dark colors, until he met Impressionists and Post-Impressionists in Paris (see The Explosion van Gogh Biography, circa 1887).
Van Gogh, who incorporated their vivid colors and styles to create his unique personal style, was a painter who loved nature and could see pure beauty in simple things, saying that he would rather paint tree shadows seen from the window than the illusion of imaginary beauty.
