On November 5, the WeChat public account of the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital released an obituary that Chen Jumei, a well-known infectious disease expert in China and the former leader, chief physician and professor of the expert group of the 302nd Hospital of the PLA, died at the age of 96 at 9:20 on November 5, 2021 due to ineffective medical treatment. According to his will and the opinions of his family, Comrade Chen Jumei's funeral was simple, and the farewell ceremony was not held, and the remains were donated to the Capital Medical University.

Professor Chen Jumei has been rooted in the frontline of infectious disease prevention and treatment for 63 years, accurately diagnosed and successfully treated hundreds of thousands of patients with nearly 60 infectious diseases; He has led the development of more than ten new drugs for the treatment of liver diseases, and the original integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment techniques and methods have entered the "Norms" for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases; Pioneered the "intrathecal injection method" for patients with Japanese encephalitis sequelae, the first to discover and apply "Schizandra enzyme", creating an amazing miracle of reducing the mortality rate of chronic severe viral hepatitis from more than 85% to 38%, and has won 23 national and military scientific and technological awards, published more than 140 academic papers, published 16 academic works on infectious diseases, and cultivated a large number of innovative talents.
