The Lord's Father, who has suddenly ascended to prominence

【Encyclopedia】

When the main father of the Western Han Dynasty was not traced, he was poor and destitute, and he had nowhere to borrow money. The coldness of the world and his own hardships filled him with hatred for everything in the world, and he vowed to get ahead and take revenge on those who humiliated him. He once traveled to the Yan, Qi, Zhao and other domains, but he was never appointed, which increased his hatred. Helpless, he desperately came to the capital Chang'an and wrote directly to Emperor Wu of Han. This adventure made him very rewarding, and Emperor Wu of Han was so appreciative of him that he was immediately given an official position. Within a year, he had been promoted to four levels in a row, and he was in a prominent position.

With his power, the Lord Father could not wait to carry out his revenge. Those who had offended him in the past were all charged with crimes and were imprisoned and punished one after another. Even if it was only the person who had a cold attitude towards him before, he would not let go, and he would do his best to take revenge, and he would not hesitate to kill people. As for the Yan, Qi, Zhao and other feudal states that had treated him coldly, he was even more deliberate in venting his hatred on his king. Emperor Wu of Han's elder brother Liu Dingguo was the king of the State of Yan, and he was notorious for his evil deeds, first taking over his father's concubines and giving birth to a son, and then forcibly snatching his brother's daughter-in-law and taking it for himself. The main father was worried about how to retaliate against the King of Yan, and at this time someone reported the ugly deeds of the King of Yan to the imperial court. The father took the initiative to ask for permission to accept the case. He not only told Emperor Wu the truth about this, but also orchestrated other "crimes" of the King of Yan, and finally forced the King of Yan to commit suicide.

Emperor Wu of Han's distant nephew Liu Cichang (劉次昌) was the King of the State of Qi. The lord father wanted to marry his daughter to him, but the king of Qi refused, so the main father held a grudge in his heart and said to Emperor Wu: "The state of Qi is rich in products, has a large population, is prosperous in commerce, and has many rich people, and such a big country is so important that His Majesty should be put in the hands of his beloved son in order to avoid future troubles." The lord's father's words touched the fragile nerves of Emperor Wu of Han, and he was appointed as the Minister of Qi to monitor the actions of King Qi. Not wanting the lord's father to wait for him to take office, he fabricated the charges, tortured the king of Qi to extract a confession, and framed him wantonly, and the king of Qi committed suicide in fear.

The next target for revenge was naturally King Zhao. Liu Penghuan, the king of Zhao, was well aware of this, so he simply took the initiative to preemptively write to Emperor Wu of Han to expose his father's greed for money and bribes, and coerced the King of Qi.

This time, the main father was caught off guard and fell into passivity. He was imprisoned and confessed to accepting bribes, but refused to admit to coercing King Qi.

Emperor Wu of Han did not want to kill him, but Gongsun Hong, a political enemy of the main father, went into a rumor, saying that he had coerced the King of Qi and alienated the flesh and bones that had fallen, and he had to kill him. Coupled with the fact that the main father had made too many enemies, no one was willing to say a good word for him, which finally made Emperor Wu make up his mind and destroy the main father's family.

It is foreseeable that the Lord father will have such an end. Someone had already admonished him: "You can't be too domineering and leave no room for man." You're acting like this, it's too much, and I'm really worried about you!" However, the Lord Father yan did not think so, and replied with vigor and words: "The eldest husband cannot eat five dings in life, and it is inevitable that he will cook five dings when he dies, and I have been begging for officials for more than forty years, and I have suffered all kinds of humiliation. Everyone has desires, everyone has selfish intentions, and when I am poor, even my parents, brothers, and friends will not recognize me, so why should I care about what others say?"

If you desire more, you are greedy, and if you are selfish, you are wrong, and your sins are born.

Translation: When there is more desire, greed arises, extreme selfishness leads to deviation, and sin arises from then on.

Commentary

Lust and selfishness are weaknesses that are difficult for people to overcome, and few people can truly transcend this limitation. In this sense, all men are guilty; The difference is only in the great sin and the minor sin. All the evils of the world, in the final analysis, stem from this defect of man himself. This requires people to face themselves squarely, always check their words and deeds, strengthen their cultivation, abandon evil and turn to good, and fundamentally overcome the weaknesses of human nature. Otherwise, you can only sink deeper and deeper, and it is difficult to extricate yourself.
