Quaint and trendy, business is also marketable, open and inclusive.
Hello, this is Jianghan Road.
Those about my past
Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street was first developed in the late Qing Dynasty and got its name in 1927.
At first, it was called Guangli Lane, but it was just a narrow dirt road opened by gentlemen and merchants.
After the British forcibly opened the concession in Hankou, in order to develop commerce and trade, Guangli Lane was widened. It was renamed "Taiping Street" with the meaning of "tolerating with the outside world and seeking peace".
After that, the Bureau of the British Concession Ministry of Works reached an agreement with Liu Xinsheng, the "king of land", to fill in the depression, build the Xinsheng Road, and include it in the scope of the British Concession.
At that time, the history of a century-old commercial street has begun.
In 1927, China took back the British Concession of Hankou, and Taiping Street and Xinsheng Road were merged, and the name of "Jianghan Road" was named "Jianghan Road" after the Jianghan Pass on the street.
