Haruki Murakami has a collection of short stories, "Meeting 100% Girls", which describes such a story.

The beginning of the story begins with "a long time ago", and such a starting word is mostly used in fairy tales, but this story is slightly sad.

A long time ago, there was a place where there was a boy and a girl, and both of them believed that there were 100% suitable people in the world.

Unlike many people who look for love and can't get it, they meet unexpectedly on the street, and they don't know that such an unexpected encounter is a miracle in itself.

They firmly believe that they are the right people for each other, know that they need each other one hundred percent, and know that they are 100% needed by each other, which makes them feel that this is a very wonderful and rare thing.

Under such a miraculous encounter and common cognition, they flashed a small but small doubt. "Is it really a good thing to be that simple?"

This confusion led them to make a decision to separate for the time being.

"If we are really 100% lovers, and we have this 100% fate, we will definitely meet again, and then we will get married." 」 That's what they thought, so the boys went from east to west and the girls left from west to east.

The prelude to the story begins, but both are too young to know that once separated, they risk never seeing each other again.

Later, in the novel, the two are separated and contract a vicious flu, and after a few weeks, the memories of the past disappear. They later returned to normal life and each experienced love.

In this way, the two are no longer teenagers, and when they meet again many years later, the glimmer of memory suddenly appears: it turns out that this is the person who is 100% suitable for themselves.

But the ending of the story is not as 100% suitable for them as they thought they were, their words are not as clear as they were, and they even rub shoulders without saying a word.

When we are young, because we have never experienced loss, we do not know how to cherish it. It seems that happiness at this stage in our consciousness is not really happiness, it is too fantasy and too simple, but what we all know is that the probability of falling in love is a miracle in itself.

Compared with cherishing each other in the present, "creating a test" in the relationship seems to have become a common thing, as if we must go through nine-nine-eighty-one difficulties to finally rely on fate to cultivate the right results. Just like the young boy and girl in the story. But when we look back after we lose it, we hardly cherish the present, and we have already said goodbye.

The reality and sense of distance in modern society are far away, and they are not close. Sometimes it seems like a few cities are right in front of you, sometimes you start to vomit just because of a small matter, and in the blink of an eye, you make a decision to go your separate ways.

Even if, as in the ending of the novel, the strangeness of being separated for too long makes each other feel embarrassed and strange, but he can only sigh in his heart, maybe he is the person who is most suitable for himself.

We say we are relying on fate, but there is no fate anymore, we say it doesn't matter, but it doesn't matter anymore. Time defeats time, love defeats love, not to reality, all lost to a momentary self.
