Soon after the departure of the Eastern Wu army, Ding was ordered to lead the generals Tang Zhi, Lü Zhao, and 5,000 soldiers and horses to the Xutang area. It was the end of the year, and it was freezing cold and snowy. The general of the Cao Army, believing that Ding Feng could not launch an attack in such harsh climatic conditions, relaxed his vigilance. Ding Feng seized on this fatal negligence of his opponent and led his troops to launch a surprise attack, crushing the Cao army in one fell swoop. This battle also changed the situation of the Battle of Dongxing. The Eastern Wu army took advantage of the victory to pursue and achieved a great victory. After the war, Ding Feng was promoted to the rank of General of annihilation and was given the title of Marquis of Fengdu Township. In the years that followed, Ding Feng repeatedly defeated Cao Jun and was promoted to general of the left.
