First, the construction background

In 1987, during the archaeological excavation of the "First Dragon of China" (Annex 2: The First Dragon Totem of China) at the site of Xishuipo in Puyang, Zhang Zhongpei, the leader of the expert group (then the president of the Palace Museum in Beijing), proposed to the Puyang City and the county government to study the topic of "Zhang Zugen in Puyang" in depth (Annex 3: Zhang Zhongpei photo).

Later, more than 30 senior archaeologists and historians, including Yang Xiangkui, Li Xueqin, and Wang Zhenzhong of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Dainian of Tsinghua University, Zhang Zhengxiu and Zhang Xiqing of Peking University, and Zhu Shaohou of Henan University, published research results on Zhang Zugen in Puyang. In 1993, the Propaganda Department of the Henan Provincial Party Committee filmed the TV film "Surname Origin Stream", and the first episode of "Zhang Surname Source Stream" was filmed at the Puyang Huagong Mausoleum. In 1996, Li Changchun, then secretary of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, visited Southeast Asia and presented "Zhang Surname Yuanliu" as a gift to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, and Singapore TELEVISION immediately broadcast it, which caused great repercussions in the Chinese circles of Zhang surname in Southeast Asia. In that year, Malaysia's Tan Sri Datuk, the president of Sin Chew Daily, the president of Hong Kong's Ming Pao, and the chairman of the board of directors of Evergreen Group, a Fortune 500 company, led a delegation to Puyang Tou Gong Mausoleum to find his roots and ancestors (Annex 4: Zhang Xiaoqing worshiped the ancestors of the ancestors), and proposed the establishment of the World Zhang Clan Association to develop and build the Hua Gong Cemetery.

According to the resolution of the meeting: In 2005, the "Second World Zhang Clan Association's Sincere Relatives Conference" was held in Puyang (Annex 5: Zhang Xiaoqing handed over the flag of the World Zhang Clan Association to Zhang Jianguo), and the news spread to China, which immediately aroused the great attention of the CPPCC National Committee, the State Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Henan Province, Puyang City, and Puyang County Governments.

Second, creative design

After the news of the construction of the Grand Hall of the Wagong Cemetery was announced, it was warmly supported by the relatives of the Zhang clan at home and abroad and the support of the cultural and creative departments of the provinces, cities and counties, and hundreds of design teams at home and abroad offered suggestions and suggestions, and finally from many design samples, the "Design Sample of the Grand Hall of the WagongGong" jointly created by Zhang Guangen, chairman of the Puyang County CPPCC Committee and president of the Zhang Surname Research Association, and Zhang Manbiao, then executive deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Puyang Municipal CPC Committee, was selected from many design samples.

Design parameters: The height of the hall is 20.05 meters, which means that it was completed in 2005; the 96 pillars of the hall symbolize the supporting role played by the descendants of the Zhang surname who have spread the world to the construction of the country. The design of the main hall is bow-shaped for both heads-up and downward view, commemorating the invention of the bow and arrow by the ancestor of the Zhang surname. The main hall adopts beige tones to symbolize the color of thatch in ancient times. The angle between the central axis of the main hall and the meridian direction is the angle between the arc star of the "Guan Arc Lingkai" and the north-south axis, which symbolizes the legend of the wolf shooting with a bow. Based on this idea, it was designed by Puyang Huajian Architectural Design Co., Ltd. (Annex 6 Painting of the Great Hall of the Great Hall)

After completion, the building area of the Hall of the Grand Duke is 2,005 square meters, symbolizing the 2005 World Zhang Clan Association's Sincere Relatives Conference held here.

The east hall of the Grand Hall is the "Bow and Arrow Culture Hall", which displays nearly 100 bows and arrows of the past dynasties with the longest historical span, the largest number of varieties and the highest quality specifications. The most valuable cultural relic is that in the "Great Battle of Song and Liao", the Song army general Zhang Huan "died of the Liao army general Xiao Tao Rin's crossbow" and thus signed the "Alliance of The Liaoyuan Alliance" with one arrow. There is also a "golden bow and silver arrow" of 9.6 meters and a silver arrow of 3.86 meters donated by the Zhang Surname Research Association of Henan Province, which should be able to declare the Guinness Book of World Records. The invention of the bow and arrow greatly liberated the productive forces, human production changed from passive racing hunting to active selective hunting, domesticated prey, family rearing into human life, and human beings moved from nomadic to settled. Militarily, the defense capabilities and combat efficiency between tribes have been improved. The first real city in history to appear in urban construction is the "Ruins of the Emperor Qiu" (about 5 kilometers southeast of the Puyang Grand Hall). As a result, the ancestor of the Zhang surname, Duke Hua, was hailed by posterity as the creator and guardian deity.

Rebuilt in the 1990s, the cemetery is circular in shape, with a diameter of 20 meters, a pedestal height of 2.6 meters, a top height of 5 meters, and a lawn protection on the top of the tomb. A ring road with a width of 8 meters was built around the tomb, and the outer part of the road was made of woolen stone pulp retaining wall, and the road surface was paved with bluestone slabs, and flower ponds were set up to plant trees and flowers. 20 meters south of the tomb is a small square with an area of 4,000 square meters, and 12 steps of blue-striped stone steps are installed at the south end of the small square, with a width of 8 meters.   On the south side of the main hall of the north-south axis of the Huaigong Cemetery is the Ten Thousand People Sacrifice Square, where sacrifices such as the "Chinese Zhang Surname Worship Ceremony" that began in 2001 are held. In the center of the square stands the statue of the Swinging Gong (Annex 15: The Statue of the Wavering Gong), made of fine granite sculptures, with a pedestal of 5.15 meters high and a height of 3.3 meters. The statue wields a curved bow, carries a sharp arrow, looks ahead, and is mighty and majestic, reproducing the tall image of the swinging gong. The pedestal of the statue is surrounded by four line-carved patterns, vividly depicting the great merits of the duke and the history of the surnames, namely: "the first bow and arrow", "shooting birds and beasts", "facing the battle and working together", and "giving the surname to the emperor".

At the center of the arc of the Grand Hall is an "echo point", any sound can be responded to, by the people as the "wishing platform", legend has it that here you can carry out "spiritual dialogue" to the waving gong, and all the "believers" who come with questions must "make a wish and return the wish" here.

Fourth, social impact

The Chinese nation is a nation that worships its ancestors. The completion of the great hall has enabled the Zhang clan relatives at home and abroad to have a spiritual home, especially to enhance the centripetal force, cohesion and sense of belonging of overseas clan relatives to the mainland of the motherland, and has become an integral part of the world-renowned cultural brand of the Chinese Zhang surname Worship Ancestor Ceremony.

After the completion of the Grand Hall in 2005, Zhang Kehui, then vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, personally came to cut the ribbon!

The Grand Hall integrates the root-relative culture, history and culture into the architectural design to create a unique root-kiss cultural landmark, which can be called a fine product in architectural design. Xie Chensheng, advisor to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and honorary president of the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics, wrote a poem congratulating: "Puyang Zhang surname five thousand autumns, long-standing reputation in Jiuzhou, painting the temple to paint successfully, bowing down and watching the eyes" (Annex 17: Xie Chensheng inscription poem). After seeing the design of the Grand Hall, Mr. Luo Zhewen, a Chinese ancient architect, the leader of the ancient architecture expert group of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and the former director of the Institute of Chinese Cultural Relics, could not help but write a poem to congratulate him: "The duke was blessed with the surname of Di Endo, the heroic sages of the past generations composed a magnificent song, today's giant pen temple, and the merits of the world are outstanding" (Annex 18: Luo Zhewen inscription poem).
